Xiaomi surprised everyone by launching their first borderless / bezelless smartphone Mi MIX and even more by making it available for sale at reasonable price instead of just a concept phone. The Mi Mix with 4GB RAM/128GB storage is priced at 3499 Yuan, while the 6GB RAM / 256 GB storage variant is priced at 3999 Yuan. Apart from Xiaomi, it seems that other brands are also working on a similar borderless or edgeless display phone and may launch it sooner than we can assume.
A set of images are spotted on Weibo which indicates that Meizu is already working on a edgeless / borderless / bezelless phone and may announce it officially as soon as the end of next month. The leaked images indicate that Meizu is planning to announce the new phone on 24th December, just a day before christmas. The date though appears odd as it falls on a saturday and we rarely see a brand launching something exceptional on a saturday. The image looks like a teaser which comes with a tag line and a date of 12.24.16 :
SOMETHING UNEXPECTED IS COMING
Apart from that launch date images, three other images showing the alleged Meizu device with home screen without any bezels, both at top and bottom. The display covers the full front portion and doesn’t even come with a bottom bezel as it comes with Xiaomi Mi Mix.
We can only see a fingerprint icon on the display at the bottom of home screen and the notification area at the top of the screen. There are no physical buttons visible. Yet just by looking at these images which are possibly some renders, we are not sure of how credible this leak or rumor is.
