Some Samsung Galaxy owners say Android Auto stopped connecting to their cars after the One UI 9 update. Others say the connection keeps dropping. The reports appear on Samsung’s and Google’s own support forums. They cover the Galaxy S26, the Galaxy A55 and other models running Android 17.
There is no official fix yet. Samsung’s community team is asking affected users to file an error report through the Samsung Members app.

What users report with Android Auto on One UI 9
A Samsung US Community thread about the Galaxy S26 opened around October 13. Its author says Android Auto stopped working the morning after their second One UI 9 update in two weeks. Re-pairing the car, clearing Android Auto’s data and trying a cable connection did not help.
A similar report sits on Google’s Android Auto Help forum. There, a Galaxy A55 5G owner on One UI 9 says Android Auto no longer connects in two cars. One is a Ford with SYNC 2.5 and the other a Renault Captur II. Both worked before the update.
Android Authority adds two details. It reports that a Galaxy S25 Edge owner found phones still on One UI 8.5 connected fine. A Galaxy S24 Ultra updated to One UI 9 reproduced the problem, according to the same report. Android Authority also says Google replied on its help forum that the report was forwarded internally. The outlet has asked Google for comment.
Not everyone is affected. Other users in the Samsung thread say Android Auto works normally on One UI 9. The cause is also unconfirmed. It could sit with One UI 9, the Android Auto app or the car’s head unit. As of November 2, neither company has said how many users are affected.
What you can try
Samsung’s Community Manager replied in the Galaxy S26 thread, and that reply is marked as the accepted solution. It first points users to Samsung’s Android Auto troubleshooting guide. It then asks them to report the bug to Samsung directly:
“You can submit an error report by: Samsung Members app > Get help > Send feedback > Error reports.”
The thread’s original poster later said one step fixed it for them: uninstalling Android Auto’s updates. That rolls the app back to its factory version. Treat it as one user’s workaround, not a confirmed fix.
One more thing to check if Android Auto connects but behaves oddly. A user in the same thread said the update had switched their default navigation app to Waze. If your maps app has changed, check that setting before assuming the connection is broken.
