Update the Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070 to the official Jelly Bean firmware

The Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070 has received the official Jelly Bean firmware.

And it’s not just the European versions, we now have an official Indian version of the firmware.

What you will need:

  • A PC running Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7/8 (32/64bit)
  • Samsung Kies.
  • Odin 3
  • The Samsung Galaxy Advance
  • The USB cable that you got with your mobile phone.

You don’t need a rooted device to flash the firmware, if you rooted your phone you will need to perform a factory reset after flashing the ROM.

How to update the Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070 to the official Jelly Bean firmware

First download Samsung’s updater software,Samsung Kies. You can get it from this link.
Install it and it will include the drivers for the Samsung Galaxy Advance.

Now download the firmware from this link. Extract the zip file and save the I9070DDULP8_I9070ODDULP8_HOME.tar.md5 in a folder.

Download Odin3 from here and run it.

Switch off the phone and enter Download mode. You can do so by pressing the key combination: Volume down+ Home +Power keys. Press the Volume Up key once and use the USB cable to connect it to your PC.

Odin will display something similar to the screenshot below:

Now make sure Auto-Reboot and F.Reset time are checked. And uncheck everything else.
Click on the PDA button and navigate to the folder where we extracted the firmware file and select it. Now the update process will start.

Wait until you see something like this

And then close Odin and unplug your mobile.

Congratulations, you now have the Official Jelly Bean Firmware on your phone. Here are a few screenshots:
