The stable One UI 9 update, based on Android 17, is now downloadable on the Samsung Galaxy A57 outside South Korea. SamMobile and GalaxyClub both report that Europe is among the first regions to get it.
There’s a catch worth knowing before you tap install. Both outlets say some early owners hit a problem that stops the phone from booting or getting past setup. Users report that a Safe Mode restart gets around it, but that workaround comes from owners, not Samsung.
As of about 6:45pm IST on October 12, we had found no Samsung announcement of this rollout. We also found no Samsung statement on the reported bug.

One UI 9 for the Galaxy A57: what’s in the update
According to SamMobile, the download weighs about 2,315.25MB and carries firmware version A576BXXU6BZIE. SamMobile credits the firmware details to Tarun Vats, who posted them on X.
SamMobile lists these headline changes for the A57:
- Quick Panel: more ways to customize the layout
- Productivity: enhancements to Samsung DeX and Samsung Notes
- Accessibility: a set of accessibility improvements
- Privacy: a location privacy indicator
To check for it, open Settings > Software update > Check for updates.
Where the update is available
Samsung released stable One UI 9.0 for the A57 in South Korea first, according to SamMobile. The phone is sold there as the Galaxy Quantum 7.
The wider release started less than 24 hours before SamMobile’s bug report, it says. GalaxyClub names the Netherlands, Belgium and the rest of Europe. Neither outlet names India, the US or any other market for the A57 yet.
SamMobile’s headline calls the update “live globally.” Its own article only says the rollout reached more regions, with Europe among the first. Owners elsewhere should treat their timing as unconfirmed.
The reported bug: two descriptions
The two outlets describe the symptom differently, and neither confirms what causes it.
SamMobile says several A57 owners who updated ran into an issue that prevents the phone from booting up. It mentions an “XML file error” and says it heard about the problem from GalaxyClub and one Reddit user.
GalaxyClub describes something narrower, in our translation from Dutch. A bug seems to stop one of the pages showing new features from loading. For some users, that makes it look impossible to get past the One UI 9 introduction screen.
GalaxyClub describes the affected screen as a broken “XML screen.” It also says the problem doesn’t seem to hit every device.
The Safe Mode workaround users report
This is a user-reported workaround, not a Samsung fix. GalaxyClub says a commenter confirmed it worked. Here are the steps as SamMobile lists them:
- Press and hold the power and volume down buttons together.
- Tap and hold Power off until the Safe Mode option appears.
- Select Safe Mode and wait for the phone to reboot.
- Once in Safe Mode, restart the phone normally to leave it.
SamMobile says you only need to do this once. GalaxyClub’s version adds that the Power off button turns green before “Safe mode” appears. After the Safe Mode restart, the problem screen should stop showing, it says.
Whether the workaround holds across later reboots isn’t confirmed. Neither outlet has confirmed the underlying cause either.
Should Galaxy A57 owners update now?
That call is yours. SamMobile and GalaxyClub both advise holding off for now, but that’s their editorial advice, not Samsung guidance.
If your A57 works fine today, waiting a few days lets other owners report back first. If you’ve already updated and are stuck, the Safe Mode restart above is the step owners say has worked.
SamMobile says it remains to be seen whether Samsung will address the issue soon. For context on the wider rollout, see how One UI 9 stable reached the Galaxy S25 series and last year’s foldables. You can also read about the One UI 9 beta on the A57 back in September.
