Redmi Note 17 India Launch Set for August 6 With an 8,000mAh Battery

Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi Note 17 launches in India on 6 August. The company announced the date through Redmi’s official X account, and the same teaser confirms the headline spec: an 8,000mAh battery, one of the largest capacities in the mid-range segment. The phone will be sold through Amazon India alongside Xiaomi’s own store and offline retail.

Redmi Note 17 India launch: what Xiaomi has confirmed

The confirmed list is short, and it is worth separating it cleanly from the leaks piling up around it:

  • Launch date — 6 August 2026, announced by Redmi India itself
  • Battery — 8,000mAh, officially teased, matching the Chinese model
  • Sales channel — Amazon India, plus Xiaomi’s online store and offline outlets

One thing Xiaomi has not settled is whether the Redmi Note 17 Pro is coming to India on the same day. The Note 17 and Note 17 Pro both launched in China earlier this month, and GSMArena reports both will be introduced on 6 August; My Mobile India’s read of the teaser is that only the standard Note 17 has been confirmed so far. Until Xiaomi says otherwise, assume one phone and treat a second as a bonus.

Everything else is still unconfirmed

The Chinese Redmi Note 17 ships with 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging, but Xiaomi has not confirmed the Indian model’s charging speeds. Reports elsewhere point to a Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, an AMOLED panel, a 50MP main camera and HyperOS 3 on Android 16 — all consistent with the Chinese version, none of it officially stated for India. A Geekbench listing has been cited for the chipset, which is suggestive rather than conclusive.

The price question is the one that actually matters

Leaks quoted by My Mobile India put the Redmi Note 17 at around ₹30,000 for 6GB + 128GB and ₹33,000 for 8GB + 128GB. Those are leaked figures, not Xiaomi’s, and should be read with the usual caution. But if they land anywhere near that, the number to hold them against is ₹22,999 — what the Redmi Note 15 started at in India in January 2026, barely seven months ago.

A jump of roughly ₹7,000 in seven months is not a rounding error, and it is worth naming what it does to this phone’s pitch. The Redmi Note line’s entire reason for existing in India was that it undercut everything with comparable specs. At ₹30,000 it is no longer a value pick; it is a mid-premium phone that happens to have a very big battery, competing against phones that have spent years justifying that price on cameras and displays. Xiaomi will point to memory prices, which are genuinely up across the industry — androidpure has covered the reported Xiaomi and Redmi India price increases and the component costs behind them. That explanation is real. It also does not change what a buyer with ₹30,000 should do, which is wait for the actual launch price on 6 August and then shop the whole bracket rather than the badge.

Pricing, colour options and the full spec sheet should all be official on 6 August.
