Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 Pro Launch in China: Price and Specs

Redmi has officially launched the Redmi Note 17 and Redmi Note 17 Pro in China today, and the headline surprise is the standard model. Rather than the 1.5K OLED and mid-range chip that early leaks pointed to, the base Redmi Note 17 arrives with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 and a 7-inch FHD+ display — a clearly budget-tier setup that starts at ¥1,299 (about $179). The Redmi Note 17 Pro sits above it starting at ¥1,599 (about $220), and both phones ship with Android 16 and HyperOS 3.

Redmi Note 17 (standard) specs and price

This is where buyers should read the fine print. In our earlier report on the leaked Redmi Note 17 lineup, the base model was pegged at a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED with a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. The phone that actually shipped is a step below that: a 7-inch FHD+ OLED and the entry-level Snapdragon 4 Gen 4. Redmi is leaning on the screen size — it calls this the largest OLED ever on a Redmi Note and unusual at this price — but a bigger panel at lower resolution paired with the weakest chip in Qualcomm’s current stack lands the standard Note 17 in a more plainly budget bracket than the leaks (or Redmi’s own framing) implied.

What it keeps is the generation’s standout hardware trait: an 8,000mAh battery, which is genuinely large for a phone in this class, plus 45W wired charging and IP65 dust and splash resistance.

Pricing and availability (China)

These are China launch prices in yuan; approximate dollar figures are conversions for reference, not a US retail price.

  • 6GB + 128GB: ¥1,299 (~$179) — regular price
  • 8GB + 128GB: ¥1,399 (~$193) — first-sale price
  • 8GB + 256GB: ¥1,599 (~$220) — first-sale price

Key specs

  • Display: 7-inch FHD+ OLED, 120Hz
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4
  • RAM/Storage: 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB
  • Cameras: 50MP rear, 8MP front
  • Battery: 8,000mAh, 45W wired, 22.5W reverse wired
  • Durability: IP65
  • Software: Android 16 with HyperOS 3
  • Dimensions/weight: 169.7 x 79.14 x 8.26mm, 225g

Redmi Note 17 Pro specs and price

The Redmi Note 17 Pro is the model that keeps the sharper hardware. It has a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED (2772×1280) at 120Hz with a 3,500-nit peak brightness rating and PWM/DC hybrid dimming, and runs on the 4nm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4. Battery capacity climbs to 9,000mAh with 67W wired charging, which Redmi says fills the phone in roughly 84 minutes. On the back sit a 50MP main camera (f/1.8) and a 2MP depth sensor, with an 8MP front camera.

Water resistance is the Pro’s other pitch: it carries IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K ratings, and Redmi claims it passed a 72-hour submersion test at 2 meters. Color options are Sky Blue, Nebula Purple, Black and White.

Pricing and availability (China)

The Pro has two price sets, and it is worth keeping them straight. The suggested retail price is what applies once the launch promotion ends; the first-sale price (July 14–19, 2026 only) knocks ¥200 off the higher-storage tiers.

Suggested retail price (regular):

  • 8GB + 128GB: ¥1,599 (~$220)
  • 8GB + 256GB: ¥1,899 (~$262)
  • 12GB + 256GB: ¥2,199 (~$303)
  • 8GB + 512GB: ¥2,299 (~$317)

First-sale price (July 14–19, 2026 only):

  • 8GB + 128GB: ¥1,599 (~$220) — unchanged
  • 8GB + 256GB: ¥1,699 (~$234)
  • 12GB + 256GB: ¥1,999 (~$276)
  • 8GB + 512GB: ¥2,099 (~$290)

Redmi is also bundling a service package with first-sale buyers: 2-year screen protection, 2-year water-damage cover, 2-year back-cover replacement, a 365-day replace-not-repair policy and a 5-year battery-health guarantee. Read this as a limited-time promotional sweetener tied to the China first-sale window (July 14–19), not a standing warranty upgrade — buyers outside that window, and outside China, should not assume any of it applies.

Key specs

  • Display: 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED (2772×1280), 120Hz, 3,500 nits peak
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 (4nm)
  • RAM/Storage: 8GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB, 12GB/256GB, 8GB/512GB
  • Cameras: 50MP main (f/1.8) + 2MP depth, 8MP front
  • Battery: 9,000mAh, 67W wired (~84 min to full), 22.5W reverse wired
  • Durability: IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K
  • Colors: Sky Blue, Nebula Purple, Black, White
  • Software: Android 16 with HyperOS 3
  • Dimensions/weight: 163.4 x 78.2 x 8.46mm, 226g

One note on the lineup: only the Note 17 and Note 17 Pro launched today. A Redmi Note 17 Pro Max was not part of this event, though that leaves the door open for a later launch rather than confirming it is cancelled.

India launch: what we know

There is no official India launch date or India pricing yet. A global rollout including India is widely expected — this series has historically reached India roughly a month after its China debut — but nothing about timing or local pricing has been confirmed by Xiaomi. Treat any specific India date circulating right now as speculation until Redmi says so directly. We will update this post when an official India announcement lands.
