Samsung has acknowledged a Galaxy Watch Ultra2 bug that leaves out the VO2 Max result after a Track Running workout. A moderator on Samsung’s Korean community forum said the responsible team has confirmed the problem. A fix is planned for a future watch software update, but the moderator gave no timeline.
Regular outdoor Running sessions still calculate VO2 Max normally, according to the report. That makes this mainly a problem for owners who train on a track.

What the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 Owner Reported
The report came from a Watch Ultra2 owner who works out with the watch alone, without a phone. They posted on October 22 on the Samsung Health board of Samsung’s Korean community forum.
According to the user:
- VO2 Max appears normally after every Running session
- Two recent Track Running sessions showed no VO2 Max, despite a good GPS lock and more than 10 minutes of movement
- Track Running produced a VO2 Max reading without trouble on their previous Galaxy Watch Ultra from 2024
Android Authority, which surfaced the thread, read the watch’s on-screen error through Google Translate. The message says the watch didn’t detect at least 10 minutes at 4 km/h or faster with a good GPS signal. The user says the run met those conditions.
Samsung’s Response: A Fix, but No Date
A Samsung moderator replied on October 26 and apologized for the inconvenience. The moderator said the responsible department had checked the issue and scheduled a fix in a future watch software update. Detailed timing for that update couldn’t be shared.
The same user complained that another bug took about 14 weeks to be fixed. That one was a friend-invite error in Samsung Health’s Together challenges. It’s one owner’s account, but it explains why an open-ended promise doesn’t reassure.
The Watch Ultra2 is Samsung’s premium fitness watch, and VO2 Max is one of the metrics runners rely on to track progress. Samsung has promised five years of Wear OS updates for the watch, so a fix should come. As of October 27, though, Samsung hasn’t given a release date for it.
What We Don’t Know Yet
The report doesn’t name an affected software build. It’s also unclear whether watches outside Korea or other Galaxy Watch models are affected. The number of owners who have hit the problem is unknown too.
Until the update arrives, outdoor Running sessions still record VO2 Max, per the report. The moderator’s reply didn’t offer a workaround.
