Poco M2 announced in India; is a rebranded Redmi 9 Prime

The Poco M2 has been announced in India. And as expected, it is a rebranded Redmi 9 Prime, which itself is a rebranded Redmi 9.

Poco M2 Slate Blue colour variant

The M2 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G80 processor with 6GB of RAM as opposed to 4GB on the Redmi 9 Prime. The Poco M2 will be available in 2 storage options: 64GB/128GB , both of which have a dedicated microSD card slot, that supports up to 512GB of expandable storage. The device runs on Poco Launcher 2.0 with MIUI 11 based on Android 10.  the company says the phone has no ads, and will be updated to MIUI 12 soon.

Poco M2 Pitch Black colour variant

The Poco M2 is equipped with a 6.53-inches FullHD+ display that has a water-drop notch to house an 8MP selfie camera that has an f/2.0 aperture. Moving to the rear panel, the handset adorns quad cameras comprising a 13MP primary with a 75.2° FOV, an f/2.2 aperture, autofocus, an 8MP ultra wide-angle lens with a 118° FOV,  an f/2.2 aperture, a 2MP depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture, a 5MP macro lens with an f/2.4 aperture and an LED flash.

Security wise, the device has a rear placed fingerprint sensor, while the selfie lens supports Face Unlock. The Poco M2 is backed by a 5000 mAh battery that supports 18W Quick fast charging over a USB Type-C port. And unlike the Redmi 9 Prime which shipped with a 10W charger in the box, the Poco M2 actually comes with an 18W fast charger.

Poco M2 price in India, and launch offers

The Poco M2 has been priced at Rs. 10,999 for the 64GB storage variant, and at Rs. 12499 for the 128GB model. The phone comes in 3 colours: Brick Red, Pitch Black, and State Blue.  The device will go on sale on 15th September at 12PM on Flipkart.  ICICI Bank and Federal Bank users can avail am instant discount of Rs. 750 when purchasing the phone.

In comparison, the Redmi 9 Prime was launched for Rs. 9,999 for the 4GB/64GB version, and at Rs. 11,999 for the 4GB/128GB variant.
