Xiaomi has begun rolling out the MIUI 12 Update for Redmi K20 in India. The company had originally released the update to the beta channel in June, but we finally received the stable OTA on our phone last night.
What’s new in the MIUI 12 Update for Redmi K20
The phone was already running on Android 10, so most of the new features are customized options from Xiaomi. The OTA weighs about 846MB to download (from MIUI v11). The firmware ships with the July Security Patch from Google.
The MIUI 12 Update for Redmi K20 includes all features that were announced by Xiaomi, including all new system animations, visuals, enhanced privacy, floating windows, dark mode (with darker wallpapers), etc. You can learn more about the new features from our previous coverage.
Once the update has been installed and the device boots, an extensive tutorial will be displayed to walk you through the new features. The OS also displayed a notification to explain how the floating windows work.
The version number of the MIUI 12 Update for Redmi K20 is MIUI 12.0.3.0 QFJIXM. The settings page has been overhauled, which is noticeable in the About Phone page.
If you haven’t received the update already, check for it manually from Settings > System Update.
