Evan Blass: Allo will be released on September 21st

Renowned leaker Evan Blass, aka evleaks, has spilled the beans on the launch date of Google’s instant messaging service, Allo. The app which was announced back in May, will be released this week, on Wednesday.

Google Allo messenger

Interestingly, the news of Allo’s launch date broke out earlier from another source, on Google+.

A person named Vinoth Ragunathan, whose profile says he is a designer based in Canada, announced that Allo will be released on September 21st on the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Store.

His statement was met with criticism from some users who questioned the leak, for which he jokingly said that the source was a friend of his friend. It takes time for a leaker to gain people’s trust, and the only way to do so, is providing credible information. In this case, since Ragunathan’s leak matches Blass’, he is bound to be looked upon for future leaks.

So, we think Ragunathan’s other statements about Google’s apps could also be true. One says that Allo will support SMS text messages, which could potentially make it a rival for Apple’s iMessage. Another leak from him says, Duo will be updated to support tablets. Speaking of which, the video calling app was recently promoted on Google.com. What better way to advertise an app, than on the homepage of the most used website in the World.

And don’t expect the new Pixel devices to be launched on Wednesday though, since previous rumours (from Android Police) have suggested that the Pixel and Pixel XL will be launched after October 4th.
