Samsung Bixby Adds Polish, Thai and Vietnamese as Galaxy AI Expands

Samsung Bixby is getting Polish, Thai and Vietnamese, with the rollout starting October 14. That takes Bixby to 12 supported languages. Galaxy AI’s call, note and translation tools are also adding Hungarian and Malay, but those land a little later.

This update matters mainly to people who use their Galaxy phone in a language other than English. It adds no new English variant for US users.

“Bixby’s new languages will begin rolling out on October 14, with the new Galaxy AI languages to follow in the coming weeks.”

— Samsung Newsroom

Bixby’s 12 languages after the update

Samsung pitches Bixby as a device agent for controlling your phone through conversation. According to Samsung’s footnotes, these are the languages it supports once the update arrives:

  • Chinese: China mainland
  • English: India, UK, U.S.
  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Japanese
  • Korean
  • Polish (new)
  • Portuguese: Brazil
  • Spanish: Latin America, Spain
  • Thai (new)
  • Vietnamese (new)

Bixby needs you to be signed in to a Samsung Account and connected to data. Samsung says other languages may be added in the future.

Galaxy AI adds Hungarian and Malay

Call Assist, Note Assist, Interpreter and Transcript Assist now include Hungarian and Malay. With them, features such as Live Translate reach 24 languages. Samsung says some of the new languages can be downloaded as language packs from the Settings app.

Now Nudge gets eight languages, including Gujarati

Now Nudge suggests a next step based on what’s on your screen. It is adding Dutch, Filipino, Gujarati, Hungarian, Malay, Romanian, Swedish and Turkish.

Gujarati is the addition that matters most for Indian users. Hindi was already on Galaxy AI’s 24-language list, so it isn’t new here. Bixby also already supported English (India) before this change.

Which Galaxy phones get the new languages?

Samsung’s release doesn’t name specific phones, One UI versions or a market-by-market schedule. It also doesn’t say whether older Galaxy models get the new Galaxy AI languages. Samsung’s footnote notes that available functions and features may vary by country, region and language.

Galaxy AI features already differ from one phone to the next. We covered that in our look at which One UI 9 Galaxy AI features reach which devices. Expect the same patchwork here until Samsung shares a device list.
