Fairbuds 2 Go on Sale in Europe at €119 With Swappable Batteries

Fairphone’s Fairbuds 2 are now on sale across Europe at €119. Both the earbuds and the charging case have batteries that owners can replace themselves. Fairphone says seven parts can be swapped in total, and a single replacement earbud is sold on its own.

For Android owners, the headline feature is LDAC. The Fairbuds 2 can stream over LDAC at up to 990 kbps. Fairphone’s product page adds a footnote: “Improved LDAC performance is currently only available on Android devices.” iPhone users pairing these earbuds won’t get that upgrade.

Fairbuds 2 batteries, repairs and warranty

Repairability is Fairphone’s main pitch for the Fairbuds 2. You can replace the battery in each earbud and in the case yourself. Fairphone says a self-swapped battery counts as a repair, not a warranty claim, so it won’t affect your coverage.

The warranty runs three years and covers manufacturing defects and faults outside your control. The product page doesn’t list spare-part prices, though. Until those appear, the real long-term cost of keeping a pair running is hard to judge.

Fairphone says the Fairbuds 2 already satisfy what the EU Batteries Regulation will require. That rule mandates user-replaceable batteries in portable devices from February 2027. We covered which devices the EU rule exempts earlier. For contrast, our AirPods 5 teardown report shows iFixit needing a hair dryer to reach the battery.

Fairbuds 2 Pricing and Availability

The Fairbuds 2 cost €119.00 on Fairphone.com in Horizon Black and Forest Green. Fairphone says they’re also sold through select European retailers, operators and resellers.

As of October 14, Fairphone hasn’t listed a US price or release date. Its US store still shows only the original Fairbuds and the Fairbuds XL. Our Fairbuds 2 preview relayed a reported US price ahead of the reveal. Fairphone hasn’t confirmed that figure, so treat it as unconfirmed.
