LG G5 press render image leaked ahead of tomorrow’s launch

The LG G5 is launching tomorrow, but there is still time for a last minute leak, right?

LG G5 press render

That’s just what eveaks must have thought, when he Tweeted the LG G5 press render image that you see in this article.

The photo gives the first real look at the device, with an almost bezel-less display. The phone has curved edges, and a full metal body.  The right side of the phone appears to house the SIM tray slot, and the lack of the rear placed buttons, suggests that the LG G5’s volume rocker will be placed on the left side of the phone, along with the power button,  which is highly probable considering that the South Koren company uses an LG Knock Code (double tap to wake the display) feature on its flagship devices. The G5 seems to have an audio jack in the top right corner.

The LG logo is on the front of the device, while the G5 branding is on the rear. The front camera does have a module next to it, which resembles a laser focus, probably for quick focusing of selfies, but it could be the proximity sensor too. The rear camera has a dual lens setting with the one on the left (in the picture) being the actual camera and the one on the right appearing to be a wide-angle focus. There is a square shaped box with a Dual LED Flash, and laser focus housed between the lenses, which is also said to have an RGB sensor (based on previous leaks).

A fingerprint sensor is placed on the rear, with a metal ring around it. The cameras and the fingerprint scanner have bumps, which resemble the Nexus 5X to some extent. Additionally, the phone will be backed by a 2800 mAh battery which is removable.

LG has confirmed the G5 will have an always on display, while Qualcomm confirmed that the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset. And here’s a recap of the specs from previous leaks.

LG G5 Technical Specifications (based on leaks):

  • Display: AMOLED screen with always on display
  • Operating System: Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
  • Processor: 1.59GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 MSM 8996
  • Memory: 4GB RAM
  • Storage: 32GB of internal storage
  • Rear Camera: 16 megapixels wide-angle focus, Dual LED Flash, laser auto-focus
  • Front Camera: 8 megapixels
  • Battery: 2800mAh
  • Design:  Full metal body
  • Sensor: Fingerprint Scanner
  • Special features: Magic slot with hardware expansion (possibly VR/camera)

The LG G5 will be launched on February 21st (tomorrow) at the MWC 16 tech show in Barcelona, Spain.
