The vivo S2 has an India launch date. vivo’s own teaser, now live on its Indian channels and on an Amazon microsite, puts the phone’s unveiling at 12PM IST on 6 August and shows the design outright rather than hiding it behind a silhouette. It also revives a name vivo has not used in India since the S1 in 2019.
What the vivo S2 teaser confirms
The poster shows two colours, a pearlescent white and a dark blue, and a front with a curved display and a centred punch-hole for the selfie camera. The back carries a horizontally aligned pill-shaped camera island with two camera rings and a smaller circular flash — a layout much closer to vivo’s recent X-series look than to anything in its current India mid-range. The poster also states the phone runs OriginOS, vivo’s own software, and carries the tagline “My New Story”.
That is the complete list of what vivo has actually confirmed. No price, no chipset, no camera resolution and no memory tiers have come from the company.
Leaked specifications — not confirmed by vivo
A set of promotional-looking renders and a spec sheet credited to tipster Passionategeekz have circulated ahead of the event, reported by Gizmochina. Everything below comes from that leak and should be treated as unverified until 6 August:

- Chipset — MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo
- Memory — 8GB RAM, with 128GB and 256GB storage options
- Rear cameras — 50MP main sensor plus a 2MP secondary camera

- Battery — 7,050mAh with 44W FlashCharge
- Colours — Sapphire Blue, Regal Bronze and Silk White
Prices have also been floated in the same leak. We are not repeating them, because a leaked price sheet is the single item in a pre-launch leak most likely to be wrong and the one most likely to make someone hold off on a purchase.
The question vivo has not answered
If the Dimensity 7360-Turbo listing holds, the vivo S2 is a mid-range phone wearing a flagship-adjacent design, which is precisely how the S series has always worked. The thing worth watching on 6 August is not the camera island — it is how many Android version upgrades and years of security patches vivo commits to, since that is where mid-range phones from every brand quietly diverge, and vivo has been inconsistent about stating it clearly at launch. Buyers should also check whether the S2 ships on OriginOS 6 or is in line for OriginOS 7, which is already in beta on vivo’s higher-end devices.
