OriginOS 7 Beta Opens: The Five vivo and iQOO Devices Eligible First

vivo has opened OriginOS 7 beta tester recruitment, and the first wave is a short list: five devices, China only, with a registration window that closes in five days. Sign-ups opened at 10:00 China time on 30 July and run until 23:59 on 4 August, according to vivo’s own recruitment poster.

OriginOS 7 beta: eligible vivo and iQOO devices

This is the first-phase list only, and it is deliberately narrow — current flagships and the two premium tablets, nothing older.

  • vivo X300 Pro — flagship phone
  • vivo X Fold6 — book-style foldable
  • vivo Pad6 Pro — flagship tablet
  • iQOO 15 — performance flagship
  • iQOO Pad6 Pro — iQOO tablet

Two things this list is not: it is not the OriginOS 7 update eligibility list, and it is not a global programme. Devices missing here — the X300, X200 series, the wider iQOO line, the Y and T budget families — are not being ruled out of the final release. They are simply not in the first test batch. vivo’s recruitment poster does not state which Android version OriginOS 7 is built on, and no stable rollout schedule has been announced.

How the registration works, and what it costs you

Applicants need one of the five devices and a mainland China account; the entry form goes through vivo’s own recruitment channel. Selected testers are expected to receive the first OriginOS 7 Beta push around 11 August, with vivo noting the actual push time takes precedence over the estimate.

vivo’s own notice is unusually blunt about the risks, and worth reading before you sign up: the beta may be unstable, features may be incomplete, bugs are expected, power consumption may be abnormal, and third-party apps may not work correctly. Add the parts that are not in the notice but always apply to a closed beta — a test build ships more diagnostic logging back to the vendor than a stable one, banking and payment apps frequently refuse to run on pre-release firmware, and rolling back usually means a full wipe rather than an OTA. This is not a way to get new features early on your only phone.

What OriginOS 7 is expected to bring

vivo has not detailed the feature set with the recruitment notice. Chinese coverage points to deeper AI integration, a translucent “liquid glass” visual direction and expanded theme customisation, but none of that is confirmed by vivo in this announcement, and no changelog has been published. Treat feature lists circulating today as unofficial until the beta actually lands on 11 August.

Global rollout timing

There is no announced global beta. vivo has said nothing about markets outside China, including India, where the X300 series and iQOO 15 are on sale. On vivo’s past cadence the international beta has followed the Chinese one by roughly a month or two, which would put it somewhere around September — an estimate based on previous releases, not a vivo commitment. Global users on Funtouch OS should also expect their build to differ from the Chinese OriginOS one in app set and default services, as it has every year.
