Mint Mobile’s family plan now discounts every Unlimited line after the first. The first line costs $30 a month and each extra Unlimited line costs $20, for two to five lines.

Android Authority first reported the change. It says the old family plan’s only real perk was Mint’s 12-month per-line price while paying three months at a time. Android Police adds that the previous version offered no discounts at all.
Mint’s own page sums up the new structure in one line:
Your first line of Unlimited is $30/mo, then $20/mo for each Unlimited line after that (5 lines max).
Mint Mobile family plan prices
Every family plan is paid three months upfront. Here is what Mint lists with Unlimited on every line:
- 2 lines: $50/mo, $150 upfront
- 3 lines: $70/mo, $210 upfront
- 4 lines: $90/mo, $270 upfront
- 5 lines: $110/mo, $330 upfront
Mint advertises savings of $10 to $40 a month. Working from Mint’s own prices, that is the gap between paying $30 for every line and the family total. Five lines at $30 would cost $150, against $110 on the family plan.
Mixing plans
Families don’t have to put everyone on Unlimited. Each line can take a different plan at these three-month rates:
- Unlimited: $30/mo
- 23GB: $25/mo
- 17GB: $20/mo
- 6GB: $15/mo
Mint’s page doesn’t say what discount, if any, applies to non-Unlimited lines in a mixed family. Check the total at checkout.
Mint is owned by T-Mobile and runs on its network. Plans include a mobile hotspot plus unlimited talk and text. Calls to Mexico, Canada and the UK are included too. You can bring your own phone and number and manage every line in one app.
The catches
The discount is real by Mint’s own numbers. In return, the fine print asks families to give up some flexibility.
- Three months prepaid: the minimum upfront payment is $150 for two lines, rising to $330 for five.
- Auto Renew on every line: Mint requires it for all lines on the plan.
- One cancellation ends the discount: it ends if any line is cancelled or moved to a non-eligible plan. Mint’s renewal note adds that cancelling ends promo pricing.
- No stacking: the family discount may not be combined with other offers. Promos like the $10-a-month Unlimited offer for new customers we covered on October 9 fall under that rule.
- Data limits: past 50GB in a month, Unlimited users may see slower speeds in some places when the network is busy. Hotspot is capped at 20GB and video streams in SD.
- Taxes and fees: extra on every plan.
The cancellation clause deserves the most thought. One person leaving ends the discount for the whole family. Mint’s page doesn’t say what the remaining lines pay after that.
What happens at renewal
Mint’s renewal text says family plans renew at the same totals, from $150 for two lines to $330 for five. Its Broadband Facts labels show something different for each plan.
Those labels list three-month intro rates and higher regular rates. Unlimited, for example, appears at $30 intro and $40 regular. Before you prepay, check the Broadband Facts label at checkout to see which price applies to you.
