Mint Mobile has cut every one of its six-month plans to $10 a month, Unlimited included. The offer is live on Mint’s own site, which labels it limited time. There are three conditions attached, and they matter more than the headline number.
What the $10 Mint Mobile plan actually costs
The price is not $10 billed monthly. You pay $60 upfront for six months of service, which works out to $10 a month across that term. That applies to all four of Mint’s data tiers, so the Unlimited plan costs the same as the 6GB one.
- 6GB — $10/month on the promo, regularly $20/month per Android Authority
- 17GB — $10/month on the promo, regularly $25/month
- 23GB — $10/month on the promo, regularly $35/month
- Unlimited — $10/month on the promo, regularly $35/month
Unlimited is the obvious pick here. Every tier costs the same for six months, so there is no reason to choose a capped allowance. Mint Mobile is a US-only MVNO, so this offer does not apply outside the United States.
The three conditions
First, the promo is for new subscribers only. Mint’s terms, as Android Authority reads them, restrict the pricing to people who have not used Mint before. Existing customers get nothing from this.
Second, the $10 rate covers the first six months and no longer. After that term you either continue at Mint’s regular price or move to another plan or carrier. Android Authority lists the regular Unlimited price at $35 a month, so that step up is worth planning for.
Third, there is no stated end date. Android Authority notes that Mint’s terms do not say how long this pricing will be available. That makes it a deal to take or leave now, rather than one to think about for a fortnight.
Is it worth taking
As a six-month trial of a carrier, $60 for unlimited data is hard to argue with. The risk is treating it as your new phone bill. Anyone who signs up should set a reminder at the five-month mark and decide then, because the renewal price is where the value evaporates.
The upfront payment is the other thing to weigh. Prepaying means paying for six months before you know how Mint’s coverage holds up where you live. Check coverage at home and at work before handing over $60, not after.
