Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro officially announced with 5G editions in tow

The Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro have been officially announced. And there are 5G editions of the phones as well.

The phone features a 6.62-inch Full HD+ OLED display that has a large notch, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The phone runs on EMUI 10 based on Android 10, but will launch without Google Services because of a trade ban in the US. It is powered by an octa-core Huawei Kirin 990 processor with 8GB of RAM, a 16-Core Mali-G76 GPU, and a dedicated NPU (Neural processing unit).

There is a gesture sensor on the Mate 30, that allows the user to swipe (vertical wave) to scroll and grab (close fingers) to take a screenshot. This appears to be quite similar to Google’s Project Soli Radar.

The Mate 30 has 128GB and supports up to 256GB of NM SD card (Nano memory card). The phone is backed by a 4200 mAh battery that supports HUAWEI SuperCharge 40W wired charging over a USB Type-C port and Wireless HUAWEI SuperCharge 27W. Surprisingly, the Huawei Mate 30 does have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

In terms of optics, the Mate 30 boasts quad cameras consisting of a 40 MP SuperSensing camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 16 MP Ultra Wide Angle Camera with an f/2.2 aperture, an 8 MP Telephoto Camera with an f/2.4 aperture that supports  Optical image stabilization, phase focus, contrast focus, and AIS (HUAWEI AI Image Stabilization).

The Huawei Mate 30 5G edition true to its name, supports 5G mobile networks.

The Mate 30 Pro sports a 6.62-inch Full HD+ flex OLED edge-to-edge display which curves at 88°. It has a long notch, an 18.4:9 aspect ratio and is equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device has 256GB of internal storage, and is backed by a 4,500 mAh battery.

The camera department of the Mate 30 Pro comprises quad lenses with a 40 MP primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture, a 40 MP SuperSensing Camera with an f/1.6 aperture that supports Optical image stabilization, an 8 MP Telephoto lens with an f/2.4 aperture which also supports OIS and a 3D Depth Sensing Camera. The cameras support phase focus, contrast focus) and HUAWEI AI Image Stabilization. The selfie lens on the device is a 24MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture.

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro does not have a 3.5mm headphone jack. It is IP68 certified for Splash, Water, and Dust Resistance. The rest of the specs are similar to the regular Mate 30.

5G mobile network is supported only on the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G.

Huawei Mate 30 price

The Huawei Mate 30 price starts at 799 Euros (about Rs. 63,000), while the Mate 30 Pro costs 1099 Euros (about Rs. 86,000). The Mate 30 Pro 5G edition will retail for 1199 Euros (about Rs. 94,000).
