2018 can be easily termed as the year of Notch smartphones when almost every smartphone brand launched smartphones with Notches and the trend is slowly shifting to more camera sensors as the year-end approaches. The upcoming year 2019 appears to be the year of smartphones with full-screen displays with almost no notch and more camera sensors having higher megapixel capabilities.

Xiaomi has officially teased an upcoming smartphone with a 48MP sensor on the rear panel which if launched will be the highest megapixel sensor on any smartphone. The teaser is revealed by Xiaomi President Bin Lin on his official Weibo handle. The teaser image also reveals a dual-tone, dual-LED flash and will launch in January next year i.e. 2019. The teaser doesn’t reveal the name of the smartphone or the exact date of launch and we need to wait to get more details. The camera module appears to be aligned vertically but we are not sure if it’s a dual camera or triple camera module.

At the moment, we are only aware of the Sony IMX586 sensor which comes with a 48MP resolution along with the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor. Usually, we have seen the Sony sensors in most of the flagship devices, yet we can’t be sure. At the moment, we can only speculate if it’s the Xiaomi Mi 9 or Xiaomi Mi 3S or an entirely new series of smartphone. Hopefully, we have more details about the device soon. Stay tuned at AndroidPure and we will keep you updated.
