Reduce heating issues in the YU YUREKA, YUPHORIA and YUREKA Plus with the YU Thermal Config app

Micromax owned subsidiary YU, has released a new app called the YU Thermal Config app,  for its smartphones.

YU-Thermal-Config-app

The app has been designed for the YU YUREKA, YUPHORIA and YUREKA Plus.

All three phones have been plagued with heating issues, and the company has openly acknowledged this. The reason for this is reportedly because the phones use their processor’s full power, which results in overheating. This is not surprising, as all phones will heat up when their cores run at max power.

This app has been developed and tested specifically for the three phones mentioned above, so it is not advisable to use it on other phones.

The YU Thermal Config has three profiles:

  • High performance : Max power, but overheats the device
  • Medium Performance : A balanced performance mode, but still ends up heating the device
  • Optimized performance : Best battery performance, and minimal thermal issues.

The app requires root, which in turn requires an unlocked bootloader. You can find instructions for that at the official YU forums linked in the source below.

Download the YU Thermal Config app for free from the Google Play Store.

It is likely that all the app does is change the CPU governor, but nevertheless it should be useful for devices which have been affected with thermal issues.
