Want an iPhone Duo on day one without fumbling through checkout at dawn? You can do most of the work now. An early setup step for the iPhone Duo pre-order is already open. It lets you choose your configuration, trade-in and payment details ahead of time.
Pre-orders themselves open on Friday, October 16, at 5:00 a.m. PT (8:00 a.m. ET). MacRumors and GSMArena both call the early step Apple’s “Get Ready” process. Apple’s iPhone Duo page doesn’t use that name. Instead, it describes the step like this:
Save time at iPhone Duo pre-order. Get the prep work done now, then speed through checkout on October sixteenth.
Why set up your iPhone Duo pre-order early
The main reason is supply. GSMArena expects the iPhone Duo to be available in fairly limited numbers at first. MacRumors points to reports that manufacturing problems could restrict supply. Both are the outlets’ expectations, not statements from Apple.
MacRumors recommends finishing the setup for that reason. Whether the step holds a phone for you hasn’t been confirmed. Treat it as a head start on checkout, not a guarantee of a unit.
We also couldn’t confirm how long the setup window stays open. Don’t leave it until Thursday night on the assumption that it will still be available.
How to get your iPhone Duo pre-order ready
According to GSMArena, the setup is available on Apple’s website and in the Apple Store app. MacRumors reported that it would open on Monday, October 12. Here’s what you can fill in now.
- Open apple.com or the Apple Store app and go to the iPhone Duo pre-order setup.
- Pick a color and storage capacity. Decide this now so you aren’t comparing options at 5:00 a.m.
- Set your carrier status.
- Add accessories if you want any with the phone.
- Choose an AppleCare+ plan, or skip it.
- Set up a trade-in if you’re handing in an older phone.
- Add a payment method.
- Enter your shipping and billing addresses.
- Come back on October 16 at 5:00 a.m. PT (8:00 a.m. ET) and place the order.
GSMArena says that on pre-order day you should then only need to click or tap a single button. That’s the outlet’s description. Apple’s own page only promises that you can move through checkout with less to do.

Apple says the iPhone Duo will be available from October 23, 2026, on apple.com and at select carriers and partner stores. One honest caveat applies. The setup saves you typing on the day, but it can’t create stock. If supply is as tight as the outlets expect, being on time at 5:00 a.m. PT still matters most.
