Redmi has confirmed that the K100 Pro series launches in China on 11 August at 19:00 local time, and it is arriving noticeably earlier in the year than the K-series usually does. Xiaomi group president Lu Weibing, announcing the date on Weibo, tied that schedule change directly to the cost of memory: with storage prices climbing across the industry, Redmi says it moved the K100 series forward rather than following the sector’s habit of clustering launches in the second half of the year.

Two flagships first, the standard Redmi K100 later
The bigger structural news is that the K100 launch is being split. Redmi is leading with two devices — the K100 Pro and the K100 Pro Max — and holding the standard K100 back for a later date. Lu Weibing was explicit that the base model has not been cancelled and will still be built around the K-series formula of flagship performance at a practical price; it simply is not part of the 11 August event.
Redmi is positioning the two Pro models differently rather than treating the Max as a bigger version of the same phone. The K100 Pro is framed as an all-rounder in the 4,000-yuan bracket with no obvious weak spot, and Lu Weibing has separately indicated pricing for it lands around CNY 4,000. The K100 Pro Max is aimed squarely at gaming, which Redmi describes as the area it spent the most effort on this generation. Redmi is also showing the phones in person at ChinaJoy 2026, with a hands-on and configuration reveal session scheduled for today.
What Redmi has officially shown of the K100 Pro Max
The launch poster reveals the K100 Pro Max in a new Cabernet Red finish, and Redmi has confirmed several design points alongside it:
- Display — a flat 6.9-inch panel with ultra-narrow bezels on the Pro Max.
- Build — a wrap-around metal frame with a single-piece metal camera deco.
- Light ring — a new floating ring element on the camera island that pulses in time with music.
- Audio — the Bose-tuned rear woofer from the K90 Pro Max carries over, visible inside that ring on the official render.
- Availability — pre-reservations are already open through Xiaomi’s official Chinese store.
Still unconfirmed
Plenty of the circulating spec sheet is not official yet. Leaker Digital Chat Station (@数码闲聊站) says the Pro Max carries a periscope telephoto and a Bose-tuned 2.1-channel speaker arrangement, neither of which Redmi has stated itself. Reporting from Chinese outlets also points to 6.59-inch and 6.9-inch screen sizes across the two models, both at 185Hz, a battery above 8,000mAh, 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, a 200MP main camera, 3D ultrasonic fingerprint reading and full water resistance. A device with model number M511CD, widely believed to be the K100 Pro, has passed through China’s network licensing with 100W charging and appeared on Geekbench with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and 16GB of RAM. Treat all of that as unconfirmed until 11 August. A global rebadge as Poco F9 Pro and F9 Ultra is expected but has not been announced.
Read the “pulled forward” story carefully
Redmi is presenting the earlier launch as a favour to buyers — getting a fully specced flagship out sooner instead of waiting for the crowd. That is one reading. The other is that memory contracts get more expensive the longer you wait, and launching earlier locks in a bill of materials before it rises again. The relevant precedent is right there in the previous generation: the K90 Pro Max launched at CNY 3,999 and was later raised to CNY 4,199. If the K100 Pro opens near CNY 4,000, that is not a phone holding its price — that is a series whose floor has moved up, in a quarter when Xiaomi’s global shipments fell 26%. Anyone planning to buy one should watch for a mid-cycle increase rather than assuming launch pricing sticks.
