Xiaomi has begun teasing something on Weibo. An event has been scheduled for this week in China, and it could be a Redmi 64MP camera phone launch.

Redmi 64MP camera phone ?

We think it may be a 64MP camera device. In case you missed it, Samsung announced a new camera sensor called the ISOCELL Bright GW1, in May 2019.  It can capture 16MP photos and use pixel-binning technology to deliver 64MP shots.

It is highly likely that Xiaomi, as a leading smartphone brand was among the first companies to get access to the new camera sensor, for its devices.

A rival brand, Realme, has also been teasing a 64MP quad camera phone. The first news about it surfaced nearly 2 months ago, and the device is expected to go official this month in India. And according to renowned leaker, Ice Universe Samsung has plans to launch a new 64MP A series phone sometime in September or October.

This does tally with the announcement made by the South Korean electronics giant, which said that the Bright GW1 sensor will be in mass production in the 2nd half of the year. So, we can expect to see more 64MP camera phones in the near future.

We have to wait until August 7th, for Xiaomi to announce the Redmi 64MP camera phone.
