OPPO A7 Pro Max Launches 4 August With a 10,000mAh Battery

OPPO has set a date for the OPPO A7 Pro Max, the first phone in its portfolio with a 10,000mAh battery. The company’s own launch poster puts the announcement at 2:30pm China time on 4 August, and the phone is already listed for pre-order on OPPO’s official Chinese store. Along with the date, OPPO has confirmed the colour options, the memory and storage configurations, and the camera setup — everything except the price, which lands with the launch.

OPPO A7 Pro Max launch date, colours and variants

OPPO is selling the A7 Pro Max in three finishes. In China they are named 乘风破浪 (blue), 前橙似锦 (orange) and 远山黑 (black), with the blue and orange units carrying a patterned rear panel rather than a flat colour. Three configurations have been confirmed:

  • 8GB RAM + 128GB storage
  • 12GB RAM + 256GB storage
  • 12GB RAM + 512GB storage

Pricing has not been announced for any of them, and OPPO has not said anything about markets outside China. The A-series does travel, so an international variant is plausible, but nothing about that is confirmed today.

The 10,000mAh battery, and OPPO’s seven-year claim

The battery is the reason this phone exists. OPPO first confirmed the 10,000mAh single-cell design in late July, before it had named a date. OPPO’s poster pairs the 10,000mAh figure with the phrase 七年耐用 — durable for seven years — which is the company’s own marketing claim about how long the cell should hold up, not an independently tested result. Treat it the way you would any battery-longevity promise from a manufacturer: it is a claim about ideal conditions, and there is no published methodology behind it yet.

What is more interesting technically is how OPPO fit the cell in. Instead of the twin-cell arrangement most big-battery phones use, the A7 Pro Max uses a single silicon-carbon cell, which cuts the internal wiring and power-management hardware a dual-cell design needs. Reported dimensions put the phone at 8.47mm thick and 226g — heavy, but not absurd for a five-digit battery capacity. Wired charging is reported at 80W; OPPO has not stated the figure in the material it has published so far.

Specifications

OPPO has confirmed only part of the sheet. The rest comes from leaks and benchmark listings and should be read as unconfirmed until 4 August.

  • Battery (confirmed): 10,000mAh single-cell silicon-carbon, 80W wired charging reported
  • Rear camera (confirmed): dual setup led by a 50MP main sensor
  • Front camera (confirmed): 50MP
  • Memory (confirmed): 8GB/128GB, 12GB/256GB, 12GB/512GB
  • Body (reported): 8.47mm thick, 226g
  • Display (leaked): 6.78-inch flat OLED, 1.5K resolution, 120Hz
  • Processor (leaked): Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5

Strip away the battery and this is an entry-level phone: a Snapdragon 4-series chip, a second rear camera that leaks peg at 2MP and which will do nothing you would miss if it were absent, and 128GB on the base model at a time when memory costs are pushing storage tiers the wrong way. That is not a criticism of the concept — a genuinely enormous battery in a sub-9mm body is a real, useful thing, and far more people want two days of screen-on time than want a telephoto lens. It just means the price OPPO announces on 4 August will decide whether this is a bargain or an expensive way to buy a battery.
