Rumor: The Galaxy S26 FE camera hardware appears to be a carry-over. According to a leak published by Android Authority on 31 July, the phone — internally codenamed “r14” — reuses the same main and telephoto sensors Samsung fitted to the Galaxy S25 FE. Samsung has announced nothing about this phone, so treat every figure below as unconfirmed.

What the Galaxy S26 FE camera leak claims
- Main: 50MP Samsung ISOCELL S5KGN3 — 24mm equivalent, 1/1.57-inch sensor, 1µm pixels, f/1.8, dual-pixel PDAF, OIS
- Telephoto: 8MP OmniVision OV08A1 — f/2.4, 3x optical zoom, 1.0µm pixels, PDAF, OIS. Notebookcheck puts this sensor at 1/4.4-inch, a size figure the original report does not give
- Ultrawide and selfie: two 12MP sensors, a GalaxyCore GC12A2 and a Sony IMX825. Android Authority says it could not establish which one handles which job
- Charging: 45W wired, per earlier leaks, unchanged from the S25 FE
The main and the telephoto are the parts that matter here, and both are described as the identical sensors from last year’s model.
The part of this that is actually the story
A Fan Edition phone reusing sensors is not scandalous on its own. Samsung has never sold the FE line on sensor size. What makes this leak land differently is what AndroidPure reported two days ago: leaked French pricing puts the S26 FE at €799 for 128GB, up €50 on the S25 FE, with the 512GB tier climbing €170 to €1,099.
So the price moves and the camera hardware does not. That is the sentence worth carrying into a buying decision, and it is a fair thing to hold Samsung to if the leak proves accurate, because a rising price on a mid-tier phone has to be justified by something the buyer can point at.
What can still improve, and what can’t
Two different things get flattened together whenever a spec sheet repeats itself, so it is worth separating them.
Genuinely open: image processing. A newer chipset and a newer generation of Samsung’s computational pipeline can meaningfully change how photos from an unchanged sensor look — noise handling, HDR behaviour, how skin tones survive low light, shutter lag. Samsung has delivered real year-on-year gains this way before, and there is no reason to assume it won’t again.
Closed: the physics. An unchanged 1/1.57-inch main sensor collects exactly as much light in 2026 as it did in 2025. If the 8MP telephoto really is a 1/4.4-inch part, the 3x zoom will stay the weakest thing about the camera in dim conditions, and no amount of processing rewrites that. Anyone hoping the S26 FE would close the gap to the base Galaxy S26 on hardware should stop hoping.
How much to trust this
This is a single-source leak. Android Authority attributes it to a trusted source it does not name, and every other outlet carrying the specs today is citing Android Authority rather than confirming anything independently. Sensor choices can and do change late in a phone’s development, particularly when component pricing moves — and component pricing has been moving a great deal this year.
What we have no leak for at all is the front-facing arrangement, the video capability, or whether Samsung intends to market any of this as an upgrade. Fan Edition phones have typically arrived in early September; if that holds, there is roughly a month before Samsung’s own numbers replace these ones.
