Google has launched the Fitbit Edge at $179.99 in the US. Pre-orders are open now on the Google Store and through retail partners, and the tracker reaches store shelves on October 27.
Every Fitbit Edge comes with three months of Google Health Premium. That bundle matters more than it looks. Google says the Edge’s Coach feature needs a Premium membership, and its new Health Guardian tools are rolling out to Premium subscribers.
We covered the leaked spec sheet and Google’s reveal date last week. Here is what Google has now confirmed.

Fitbit Edge Pricing and Availability
Google’s launch announcement sets out the price and the retail date plainly:
Google Fitbit Edge, which retails for $179.99, is now available for pre-order on the Google Store and through retail partners. It will be on shelves October 27.
The Google Store also offers 12-month financing at $15.00 a month. A Stephen Curry Special Edition Fitbit Edge costs $219.99.
Google’s announcement gives US pricing only, so European and UK prices remain unconfirmed. Google says the Edge works with most phones running Android 11 or later and iOS 16.4 or later.
What Needs Google Health Premium
Coach is the clearest paid feature. Google’s announcement and its Store page both say coaching requires a Google Health Premium membership.
Health Guardian covers blood pressure trends, insulin resistance trends, and high and low heart rate alerts. Google says these features reach Fitbit Air and Fitbit Edge owners with a Premium subscription later this month. The Edge announcement does not spell out whether the heart rate alerts also need Premium.
Buyers should factor that in before ordering. The three free months are a trial. As of October 13, Google’s launch materials don’t list what Premium costs after the trial ends. Keeping Coach beyond that point means paying for a subscription.
Features also vary by market. Google says Health Guardian availability differs by region, country and device. The ECG app works only in select countries, and skin temperature tracking is not offered everywhere. Google describes these tools as general wellness features, not as a way to diagnose or treat any condition.
Fitbit Air and Pixel Watch Updates
Google is also upgrading automatic workout logging later this month. The change covers Fitbit Air, Fitbit Edge, and the Pixel Watch 3, 4 and 5. Pixel Watch owners can read our earlier report on the Health Guardian rollout for Pixel Watch.
A new Metal Mesh band for the Fitbit Air is up for pre-order at $69.99, in Champagne Gold or Polished Silver. A Champagne Gold band bundled with an Obsidian Fitbit Air costs $149.99 at Target and the Google Store.
