LineageOS 24.0 is now official, and it moves the community-built Android distribution onto Android 17. This is not an update from Google or any phone maker. LineageOS is a custom ROM that owners install themselves, and each device’s build depends on its maintainer.
The project announced the release in Changelog 32 on October 11, 2026. Its build roster runs to 174 rows, though some rows cover more than one model. The other big change is a cutoff: devices on Linux kernel 4.4 or 4.9 stay on LineageOS 22.2.

LineageOS 24 and Android 17: what the changelog says
The changelog is written by LineageOS maintainer Nolen Johnson (npjohnson). He says the team rebased onto Android 17’s code faster than it expected.
Yes you read that right: We’re early this year!
— Nolen Johnson, LineageOS Changelog 32
The project says the 24.0 branch now matches 23.2 on features and stability, so it is ready for an initial release. Builds will start with a selection of devices. More will follow once they meet the project’s Charter requirements and their maintainers have them ready.
Security patches from August 2025 through October 2026 have been merged into LineageOS 18.1 through 24.0. The project also turns 10 on December 24, 2026.
Eligible devices: who is on the LineageOS 24 roster
A spot on the roster means a device is set to move to 24.0. It does not promise a stable daily-driver build on any particular date. Check your device’s wiki page before you flash anything.
New to the roster
These rows list no earlier LineageOS branch, which marks them as new to the 24.0 table:
- Google: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 10 Pro Fold, Pixel 10a
- OnePlus: OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15T, OnePlus Pad 3 Pro / Pad 4
- Realme: GT7 Pro, GT7 Pro Racing Edition, Realme 9 5G, Realme Q5
- Samsung: Galaxy Tab S7+ (Wi-Fi and LTE/5G)
- Others: AYN Thor, Amazon Fire Max 11, SDMC DV9135
Pixel phones moving up from LineageOS 23.2
- Pixel phones: Pixel 4 through Pixel 9a, including Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6a
- Other Google devices: Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet
The Pixel 6 entries stand out. As we reported on October 3, Google’s Android 17 QPR3 beta list leaves out the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. The LineageOS 24.0 roster still lists the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6a.
Samsung Galaxy phones
- Galaxy S20 series: the S20 family
- Galaxy S22 series: Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra
- Galaxy S23: Galaxy S23
The roster does not name chipset variants. In August, we found that LineageOS 23 reached the Galaxy S22 but not its Snapdragon models. Check the wiki before assuming your variant is covered.
Not eligible: kernel 4.4 and 4.9 devices stay on 22.2
Some devices on Linux kernel 4.4 or 4.9 already have ports of LineageOS 23.2 and 24.0. Even so, the project will only accept LineageOS 22.2 submissions for them. For this hardware, 22.2 is now the newest branch that gets official builds.
That is not the end of updates. LineageOS 22.2 keeps getting builds and monthly security merges for these devices. That support runs until Google stops publishing official security bulletins for Android 15.
The changelog’s supported-SoC table shows where the line falls:
- Qualcomm SDM845: kernel 4.9, Android 13, 14 and 15
- Qualcomm MSM8998 / MSM8996: kernel 4.4, Android 13, 14 and 15
- Qualcomm MSM8953: kernel 4.9, Android 13, 14 and 15
- Qualcomm SM8750: kernel 6.6, Android 15, 16 and 17
- Qualcomm SM8850: kernel 6.12, Android 17
Installing LineageOS 24, and what comes next
The project has also added browser-based flashing tools built on WebUSB. They cover ADB/Fastboot, Amlogic Burn and Samsung Odin. The wiki’s installation guides remain the default route, though.
If your phone is on the roster, its maintainer decides when a 24.0 build appears. If it runs kernel 4.4 or 4.9, 22.2 stays the supported branch for now.
