ASUS says there will be no Zenfone price hike in India

ASUS India has made an important announcement regarding the cost of its devices. Good news, the company says there will be no Zenfone price hike in India.

ASUS no Zenfone price hike in India

The news comes in the wake of the recent economical rise of the Dollar’s value vs the Rupee.

In a press note sent to AndroidPure, ASUS India released the following statement from Dinesh Sharma, the Head of Mobile Business, ASUS India.

This is what he had to say:

“We’re committed to the Indian market and thrive to keep our fans happy. Despite the ongoing rupee-dollar race, we have decided to absorb the cost currently and give our fans a better value proposition. We are glad to announce that none of our ZenFones will see an increase in price.”

No Zenfone price hike in India

This is fantastic news, and we think ASUS has learnt how to dominate the market, with all the right decisions. It may also have learnt from Xiaomi’s recent mistake.

You may have read our article about how Xiaomi is giving some of its Redmi devices a price hike, along with its TV series. In it, Xiaomi had blamed the Rupee’s slump against the Dollar, but company’s VP, Manu Jain, did confirm that the reason was because they aren’t manufacturing the device in India. This left the customers to bear the brunt of extra costs that Xiaomi incurs because of import fees, something which we think is extremely unfair.

Price hike is never good for the buyer

A price hike is never a good decision from the buyer’s perspective. It is one that could backfire badly. How? If a buyer who wanted to buy the device, opted for another company’s phone, because of the price difference, the company loses what little profit which it might have earned with the original price. Now imagine the impact, when thousands of buyers do the same.

We are glad that ASUS isn’t following that, by confirming that there will be no Zenfone price hike in India. Hopefully other OEMs will follow this example instead.
