If you are a Kindle Fire owner and one of those Android users who are too anxious to “Root” their device so that they can have full control over their device and can install a Custom ROM like those based on latest Android Ice Cream Sandwich ICS on it, then here is some good news.

A MIUI based ICS port ROM (Alpha version) for kindle is released at XDA and can be installed on your Kindle Fire. MIUI is one of the most popular Android Custom ROMs available for Android users, thanks to lithium76  .

ROM NEEDS TO BE POLISHED [Reason- its Just APLHA]

As this ROM is still under development and the version released is just Aplha 2, it is bound to have many bugs and a bit unstable. As stated above, this ROM comes without any support for Hardware acceleration. What this means in layman terms? This simply means that  all graphics features, app wont work which need Video acceleration or Hardware acceleration.

You cannot even change the theme or use a static Wallpaper. At the moment Live Wallpapers only will work. Also, USB tethering and USB Mass Storage Mode is not supported. Some apps like Youtube, Netflix, Linkedin and few other apps wont work. The ROM is still not stable and some apps while running or even MIUI user interface may lead to crashes or force close.

CONCLUSION

Its a great ROM and you will love it on your Kindle Fire. As it is still in Alpha stage, most users should stay away from it if you want a fully functional and stable ROM for your Kindle Fire. Inspite of having some bugs and stability issues which hopefully will be fixed soon, it is a great effort to bring Ice Cream Sandwich to Kindle Fire with MIUI Interface.
