Android 17 QPR3 Beta 2 started reaching Pixel phones on October 20, 2026. Its most useful addition for everyday users is a new anti-theft setting. Hands-on reports from 9to5Google and Droid Life found a toggle called Lock Quick Settings connectivity. It stops anyone from changing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane mode or mobile data on a locked phone.

That closes a familiar gap. A thief can swipe down on a locked phone and turn on Airplane mode. That knocks the phone offline before you get a chance to track it. With the toggle on, the phone asks you to unlock it before those tiles respond. Droid Life reports that your normal lock method, including fingerprint or face unlock, does the job.
How to turn on Lock Quick Settings connectivity
The setting is off by default, so you have to enable it yourself.
- Open Settings on a Pixel running Android 17 QPR3 Beta 2.
- Go to Display & touch > Lock screen.
- Turn on Lock Quick Settings connectivity.
Keep the caveats in mind. This is a beta feature, and Google’s Beta 2 release notes don’t list it. It could change before a stable release or not ship at all. According to 9to5Google, the toggle first showed up in Android Canary 2609 on September 16.
