Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Redmi Note 17 Pro Max in India. It’s the first time the Redmi Note line gets a “Pro Max” tier. The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G starts at Rs 36,999, and the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G starts at Rs 49,999. Both phones go on sale over the next week.
The launch follows through on the September 15 date Xiaomi had already confirmed on its India homepage and social accounts. androidpure reported that date on September 9, along with early spec teasers. One of those teasers needs an update. That earlier report cited an 8,340mAh battery for the global Redmi Note 17 Pro. The India unit launching today ships with a larger 9,000mAh cell instead.
Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max India Price
The Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G is priced at Rs 36,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant and Rs 39,999 for 8GB+256GB. The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G starts at Rs 49,999 for 8GB+256GB and goes up to Rs 55,999 for 12GB+256GB. Xiaomi is offering up to Rs 5,000 in bank discounts on both phones. Both also come with a limited-period Care Plan covering screen protection and battery replacement.
The Redmi Note 17 Pro goes on sale from September 17. The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max follows on September 23. Both will be available on mi.com, Amazon India, Xiaomi’s own retail stores, and offline outlets.
Specifications
Both phones share a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness. Both get Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on top. Xiaomi is also promising six years of security updates on both models, and four years of Android OS updates on the Pro Max.

One number in the price table is worth a second look. Going from the Pro Max’s 8GB+256GB variant to its 12GB+256GB variant costs an extra Rs 6,000. That’s for 4GB of extra RAM, with no change in storage. That’s a steep jump for a memory upgrade alone. Buyers who don’t need the extra RAM for multitasking are better off saving that money on the base Pro Max instead.
