Redmi K100 Pro Max: 185Hz Display and D2 Graphics Chip Confirmed

Xiaomi has confirmed the headline hardware for the Redmi K100 Pro Max ahead of its 11 August launch in China, and the pitch is unambiguously a gaming one: a 185Hz display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 paired with a separate D2 graphics chip, and a touch controller running at a 480Hz sampling rate. The company showed the phone in its Cabernet Red finish at ChinaJoy in Shanghai on the same day.

This matters because most of it was rumour until today. When androidpure covered the Redmi K100 Pro series launch date on 31 July, the 185Hz figure was circulating on a leaked poster and was filed under what Redmi had not said itself. Xiaomi has now put it on an official spec card, along with several numbers nobody had.

What Xiaomi has confirmed about the Redmi K100 Pro Max

The gaming stack is the whole announcement. Xiaomi says the 185Hz panel is natively supported by more than 30 popular titles — a detail worth reading closely, because a high refresh rate only pays off in games that actually render at that rate. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 works alongside an AI display chip Xiaomi calls D2, which handles frame generation and upscaling concurrently rather than one after the other. The touch chip’s sampling rate has been raised to 480Hz, there is a dedicated gaming antenna Xiaomi says cuts latency, and the Bose-tuned audio has a gaming profile that emphasises gunfire and footsteps.

Xiaomi president Lu Weibing added the performance figures on Weibo: an AnTuTu V11 lab score of 4.555 million for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, built on a second-generation 3nm process with a PC-class architecture and two prime cores.

  • Display: 6.9-inch flat panel, ultra-narrow bezels, 185Hz refresh rate
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, second-gen 3nm, dual prime cores, plus a separate D2 AI display chip
  • Touch: flagship touch controller, 480Hz touch sampling rate per Xiaomi’s own spec card
  • Audio: Sound by Bose with a dedicated gaming tuning profile
  • Connectivity: dedicated gaming antenna
  • Design: four-curve metal frame, one-piece metal camera housing, a new floating light ring that can pulse in time with music; Cabernet Red confirmed

What to be sceptical about

An AnTuTu score is a vendor-supplied lab number on a vendor-selected unit, not a sustained-load result, and it says nothing about how the phone behaves twenty minutes into a session with the screen at 185Hz. The refresh rate is the same story: 185Hz is a real capability, but a list of 30-odd titles is a small slice of anyone’s library, and outside that list you are paying for a panel spec you cannot use while it costs you battery. Redmi has not published battery capacity, charging speed, camera hardware, RAM and storage tiers or pricing, and none of that arrives until 11 August.

The other unknown is whether any of this leaves China. Xiaomi has announced this as a China launch only and has said nothing about other markets, so treat this specification list as the Chinese model’s until it does.

Launch timing

The Redmi K100 Pro Max launches alongside the K100 Pro on 11 August at 19:00 China time. The standard K100 is not part of that event. Pricing for all models is unannounced.
