Xiaomi Black Shark 3, Black Shark 3 Pro announced in China

Xiaomi has announced the Black Shark 3 gaming phone in China, right on schedule. There is a Black Shark 3 Pro model with some extra features.

The Black Shark 3 regular variant features a 6.67-inch AMOLED Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, 20:9 aspect ratio, and an In-display fingerprint scanner. A 20MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture is housed in a water-drop notch that’s located on the right side of the forehead bezel. A secondary stereo speaker is placed on the bottom bezel.

The Xiaomi Black Shark 3 runs on Android 10 with JoyUI, and is powered by a 2.84GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor with an Adreno 650 GPU.

The phone will be available in 3 variants Memory: 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB UFS 3.0 storage, 12GB LPDDR5 RAM with 128GB/256GB UFS 3.0 storage. The device is backed by a 4,720mAh battery which supports 65W fast charging over a USB Type-C port. Surprisingly the device retains a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The main camera department comprises triple lens arranged in a diamond-shaped bump with a 64MP primary lens that has an f/1.8 aperture, a 13MP telephoto lens with an f/2.25 aperture and a 5MP depth sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and an LED Flash.

There is another bump on the bottom that has a large Tencent Games logo, and more importantly 4 pins. That’s because the Black Shark 3 supports attachment mods aka accessories that will be sold separately. One of the attachments is a Cooling fan that the company says will reduce the temperature by 14° in a minute, another attachment is an 18W Magnetic Charging mod.

In terms of connectivity the Xiaomi Black Shark 3 supports 5G and 4G LTE mobile networks, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0 among other options.

Xiaomi Black Shark 3 Pro

The Black Shark 3 Pro adorns a 7.1-inch AMOLED Quad HD+ display with a resolution of 3220 x 1440 pixels, 90Hz refresh rate, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and an In-display fingerprint scanner.

The phone is quite similar to the regular model in terms of specs, but the Pro version has 8GB/12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, a 5,000mAh battery, and a Laser Autofocus on the rear. The Pro model also has shoulder buttons on the side for gaming.

The Xiaomi Black Shark 3 Price starts at RMB 3,499 (about Rs. 37,000) in China for the 8GB/128GB variant. The 12GB/128GB version costs RMB 3,799 (about Rs. 40,000), while the 12GB/256GB variant will be available for RMB 3,999 (about Rs. 42,000).
