ASUS has released the beta version of the Android 10 Update for Zenfone Max Pro M1 in India. This does come as a surprise considering the company’s India chief, Dinesh Sharma had mentioned during its launch event in 2018, that the company “intends to provide 2 years of OS updates for the device”.
Users did have doubts about it, but the company seems to have delivered on its promise.
What’s new in Android 10 Update for Zenfone Max Pro M1
Aside from the improvements and features from Android 10, the new firmware also brings the latest security patch from Google. In case you missed it, ASUS released the December Security Patch for Max Pro M1 last month.
ASUS has confirmed that Electronic Image Stabilization(EIS) for video recording is currently not working.
The version number of the update is WW-17.2017.1911.407. The Android 10 Update for Zenfone Max Pro M1 weighs about 1.59GB to download. You can get it from the official ASUS support website.
The update will delete all content on the device, so you should take a backup before trying it.
User reported issues:
Early user reviews on Zentalk forums suggest that the Android 10 Update for Zenfone Max Pro M1 is buggy. The main issue is that it reportedly does not unlock the device even when the previously set pattern or PIN code was entered correctly. The only workaround is to reset the device.
Other issues that have been reported include low audio output through headphones, fingerprint vibration when unlocking, missing fingerprint scanner option, speaker crackling at max volume.
We recommend waiting for ASUS to fix the bugs, before trying to update the phone. Performing a factory reset after updating is also advisable.
ASUS is also providing a downgrade to Android 9 Pie (MaxProM1_10_downgrade_to_9) that is about 1.53GB in size. Please refer to the official website for instructions on flashing it.
