Xiaomi is set to launch a new Redmi phone on January 10. So, what is the first 2019 Redmi phone?new Redmi phone 2019 Rumours suggest that it could be the Redmi 7. We don’t know for sure, but there is something we can tell from the teaser image which is pictured above. The shadow of the word Redmi reads 4800.

You may think that the new Redmi phone could come with a 4800mAh battery. But, thanks to a previous teaser from the company, we know that it will announce a new phone this month, with a 48MP camera. This is what the 4800 stands for, 4800 million pixels is written as 48MP.

According to a TENAA listing, the Redmi 7 sports a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display with a notch design. The phone is powered by a 2.3GHz octa-core processor, with 3GB/4GB/6GB of RAM and a 2900mAH battery. The device runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) and has 3 cameras. This is where things get confusing because the listing mentions an 8MP selfie lens, and dual cameras on the rear; a 12MP lens and a lens which is more than 8 million pixels. So, is that the 48MP lens?

The translation of the Weibo post indicates that Xiaomi could be launching a new brand, and this device may be the first. It may indicate Redmi as a separate brand from Xiaomi just as Honor is with Huawei.
