Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 to be launched on January 15 for $249, specifications and image leaked

A new Xiaomi phablet has appeared at an online retailer’s website.

And this listing is for none other than the Redmi Note 2.

GizmoChina reports that Xiaomi usually launches their flagship devices in June, hence the phone they will unveil next week could be the Redmi Note 2.

Xiaomi has been teasing about a new phone launching on January 15th, for a while. These are the four features they teased about:

• A thin phone
• A large phone
• A Lightweight phone
• A phone with Amazing Sound Quality

It is quite a large phone with a 5.7 inch 2D Glass Screen, Full HD Display. It is manufactured by UO/Sharp, and has  Panel Self Refresh (PSR) technology, and uses low power. It also boasts a 75% reflection-reduction which is possible due to a full GFF lamination. The phablet has a Curved Glass Body, and uses Corning Gorilla Glass on the back.

The Note 2 is powered by an Octa Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 64-bit processor clocked at 1.5GHz. It has an Adreno 306 GPU, and 2GB of RAM. It will come in 16 GB and 32 GB storage variants. It will run on Android 4.4 KitKat with MIUI 6, out of the box.

The phablet has a 5 megapixels front camera, and a 13 Megapixels rear camara with the lens being a Sony IMX214 sensor. It has a dual tone LED flash and a 30 fps burst mode, with zero lags.

It is dual sim phablet, which supports global 4G LTE-FDD bands, in addition to HSPA and GSM networks. It packs a whopping 3,600 mAh battery.

Even though the device is just 6.1mm thick, the glass back and the huge battery would probably make the phablet “heavy”, so we are not sure if it matches Xiaomi’s “Lightweight tag”.
