Apple has confirmed that its US stores will have only limited iPhone Duo stock for walk-in buyers when the phone launches on Friday, October 23. Ten countries, India among them, get no walk-in sales at all on launch day.
Buyers in those markets must reserve an Apple Store pickup slot online instead. The breakdown comes from an Apple statement given to MacRumors. It settles the US question that our earlier report on Japan and Korea left open.

Where iPhone Duo walk-in stock will be limited
Apple Stores in these countries will sell a limited number of units to walk-in customers on Friday:
- Americas: United States, Canada, Mexico
- Europe: UK, Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye
- Asia-Pacific: Australia, Singapore
Italy is a partial case. Apple says walk-in stock will be available at certain Apple Stores there, but it did not name them.
Where there are no walk-ins on launch day
In these countries, Apple says buyers need to reserve a pickup slot online rather than walk into a store:
- India
- China
- Hong Kong
- Japan
- Malaysia
- South Korea
- Taiwan
- Thailand
- France
- United Arab Emirates
Apple’s statement gives no date for when pickup reservations open in these markets. Macao sits between the two groups. Walk-in sales there run on launch day only, with limited inventory.
Expect launch-day stock to go fast
Apple Stores will have limited iPhone Duo available for walk-in customers, and we’re working hard to get this revolutionary new product into customers’ hands as quickly as possible.
That’s from an Apple spokesperson, in a statement to MacRumors.
According to MacRumors, Apple expects Friday’s supply to sell out quickly, given pre-order demand it described as extraordinary. MacRumors also reads the walk-in limits as a way to manage crowds and deter scalpers. That explanation is the outlet’s own, not Apple’s.
MacRumors says Apple’s online store currently tells customers to check back on Saturday, October 24 for Apple Store pickup reservations. The outlet didn’t tie that note to any particular country. It adds that it’s unclear whether reservations will be possible on launch day itself.
Store stock isn’t the only constraint. Apple has capped orders at two per customer. Online delivery estimates have also slipped to late January 2027. In the no-walk-in countries, an online pickup reservation is the only in-store route to a phone.
