Xiaomi India has started teasing a new launch event scheduled for September for launching a new “Flagship Dual camera” smartphone. Even though Xiaomi has not named the device, in our opinion it will be Xiaomi Mi 5X. Even though Xiaomi Mi 6 is also a dual camera flagship device, yet the company has not shown interest to launch that in India. Xiaomi Mi 5X in spite of being a mid range smartphone and not a flagship was rumoured to be launched in India in September.

Xiaomi Mi 5X with the dual camera was announced in last week of July at an event in China and is priced at 1499 yuan (~US$ 225 or Rs. 14,300). The phone went on sale in China on August 1st.

Coming to the hardware specifications, Xiaomi Mi 5X comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p Full HD 2.5D curved glass LTPS display powered by 2.0 GHz Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. It comes with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage along with support for expandable storage via microSD card up to 128 GB.  The phone runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) operating system, upgradeable to MIUI 9 later.

Xiaomi Mi 5X features dual camera module with 12 MP primary camera sensor with a wide-angle lens, 1.25μm pixel size, f/2.2 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and a secondary 12 MP camera with telephoto lens, 1.0 μm pixel size, f/2.6 aperture, PDAF. On the front, you get a 5 MP shooter for shooting selfies and video calls. The phone is backed by 3080 mAh battery.
