Samsung Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 Ultra officially launched

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series has been officially launched. Meet the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+ and the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S23

The Galaxy S23 sports a 6.1-inches Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O display with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The screen supports 120 Hz Refresh Rate which can vary from 48 to 120Hz. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, , has a pixel density of 425 PPI, supports HDR10+ and Vision Booster for better viewing in outdoor conditions such as bright sunlight.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 runs on One UI 5.1 based on Android 13 out of the box, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 octa-core processor with an Adreno 740 GPU. It has 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 128GB/256GB/512GB of internal storage.  The high-end mobile packs a 3,900 mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging capable of topping the battery up to 50% charge in around 30 mins, it also supports 10W Wireless Charging.

The selfie lens on the smartphone is a 12MP snapper with an f/2.2 aperture, an 80° field of view (FoV), and supports HDR10+. The main camera set up on the Samsung Galaxy S23 consists of a 50 megapixels lens, 85° FoV, f/1.8 aperture, supports optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12 MP ultra-wide angle lens with a 120° FoV, f/2.2 aperture, a 10 MP telephoto lens, with 36° FoV, f/2.4, 69mm, 3x optical zoom, and an LED Flash. Security-wise, the phone supports Samsung Knox, Samsung Knox Vault, and has an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.

Connectivity options on the Galaxy S23 includes Dual Nano SIM Cards and an eSIM slot, 5G and 4G LTE mobile networks, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, GPS. The phone has a slew of sensors comprising an Accelerometer, Barometer, Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor in display, Gyro sensor, Geomagnetic sensor, Hall sensor, Light sensor, Proximity Sensor, and UWB. The phone is rated IP68 for Dust and Water Resistance, weighs 168g, and sums up to 146.3 x 70.9 x 7.6 mm.

Samsung Galaxy S23+

Though the two devices have the same processor, GPU, and cameras, there are a few differences between the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+.  The latter has a slightly bigger display at 6.6-inches in size, with a pixel density of 393PPI. The phone comes with 8GB of RAM, and 256GB/512GB of storage.

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy S23+ with a 4,700 mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging via a USB Type-C port. It is capable of delivering up to 65% charge in around 30 mins. The phone weighs 196g and measures 157.8 x 76.2 x 7.6 mm.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

The top-end model of the series, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra features a 6.8-inches QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity-O display, 3088 x 1440 pixels, and supports 120Hz refresh rate that can go from 1 to 120Hz. The device has the same OS, processor, GPU, and selfie camera as the other two models in the series.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra is backed by a 5000 mAh battery that supports 45W fast wired charging. The main camera array on the rear panel consists of 4 cameras with a 200 megapixels primary sensor that has an 85° FoV, an f/1.7 aperture with OIS. It has the same ultra-wide angle lens and telephoto lens found on the S23 and S23+, the other sensor on the Galaxy S23 Ultra is a second 10 MP telephoto lens that has a 11° FoV, an f/4.9 aperture with support for 10x optical zoom. The phone weighs 234g, and measures 78.1 X 163.4 X 8.9mm in terms of dimensions. It is the only mobile in the series that supports the Galaxy S-Pen stylus that were popularized by the now-defunct Note series.

Samsung Galaxy S23 S23+ and S23 Ultra size comparison

Samsung has priced the Galaxy S23 starting at $799 (about Rs. 65,000), while the Galaxy S23+ price starts at $999 (approx 82,000). The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra price starts at $1199 (around Rs. 98,000). The devices are available for pre-booking in India, though the prices have not been revealed yet.
