OnePlus has opened ColorOS 17 Open Beta registrations for the OnePlus 15 in India. The sign-up window runs from October 9 to October 12. That closes a day before the October 13 ColorOS 17 launch, so the deadline is the part worth acting on.

One clarification on the timing. The OnePlus 15 in China already moved to the stable ColorOS 17 build on October 8. This Open Beta is a separate India-only testing track that runs ahead of India’s own stable rollout. Indian units are not receiving finished software this week.
What the ColorOS 17 Open Beta Actually Gets You
ColorOS 17 is the software that takes over from OxygenOS on OnePlus phones. That shift has been public since August, and it happens whether or not you join this beta. Every OnePlus 15 moves to ColorOS 17 eventually. The beta only changes when you get there.
What it does change is build maturity. This is pre-release code, not the shipping version. No full feature list for the OnePlus 15 has surfaced yet either, since that is held for the October 13 unveiling. Oppo’s teasers so far point at motion and visual changes rather than named features, which tells you nothing useful about stability.
Before You Install It
Back up your data first. Beta builds ship with known issues by design, and this one lands days before the software it previews is even formally announced.
The rollback path is the detail most people skip. OnePlus does publish a rollback package that returns the phone to OxygenOS 16. Using it wipes everything on the device. So the real cost of testing is not losing OxygenOS, which is going away regardless. It is a factory wipe if the build turns out to be unusable as your daily driver.
OnePlus posted the beta in its community forum, linked below. If you want the wider picture, our full ColorOS 17 beta device list covers the other eligible OnePlus and Oppo models.
What Happens Next
October 12 shuts the registration window. October 13 brings the official ColorOS 17 reveal and its feature set. The India stable rollout for the OnePlus 15 follows after that, on a date that has not been announced as of October 11. Anyone who skips the beta loses nothing except early access.
