Lava has launched the Lava Virat V1 and Virat V1 5G in India, a new budget line the company is selling exclusively online through Flipkart and its own website. Both phones lead with the same pitch Lava has built its comeback on: a clean, near-stock build of Android 16 with no pre-installed ads or bloatware, wrapped in an IP64-rated body and priced under ₹12,000.

The Lava Virat V1 (4G) is priced at an introductory ₹8,999, after which it moves to ₹9,999. The Lava Virat V1 5G launches at an introductory ₹11,999, rising later to ₹12,999. Both go on sale from July 31 at 12:00 PM IST via Flipkart and Lava’s official store.

Where the Virat V1 fits
For buyers in this segment, the clean software is the genuine draw — entry-level phones from bigger names routinely ship with a drawer full of promotional apps and lock-screen ads, and Lava’s no-bloatware promise is worth real money in daily use. The trade-off is the silicon: UNISOC’s SC9863A and T8200 are modest performers, and the HD+ resolution and single 13MP camera set clear limits on what these phones are for. As a no-nonsense daily driver or a first smartphone, though, the Virat V1 undercuts most of the sub-₹12,000 field on the things that annoy people most. Shoppers weighing this class should also look at the recently launched iQOO Z11 Lite, which competes closely on price.
