Infinix Hot 70 Pro Promises 3 Android Upgrades at Rs 24,999

Infinix has launched the Hot 70 Pro in India at Rs 24,999, and the most interesting number on its spec sheet is not the 6,000mAh battery or the 144Hz screen. It is the software promise. Infinix is committing to three major Android OS upgrades and five years of security patches on a phone that costs under Rs 25,000, a support window that until recently belonged to phones costing twice as much.

What three OS upgrades actually buys you

The Hot 70 Pro ships with XOS 16 on top of Android 16. Three major upgrades takes it to Android 19. Five years of security patches runs to roughly September 2031, assuming Infinix keeps to the schedule it has just announced.

That is a genuine step up for the segment. Budget and lower-mid-range Android phones have historically shipped with one or two OS upgrades and two to three years of patches, which is why so many Rs 20,000 phones stop receiving anything about eighteen months after you buy them. It is not the longest window in the price band either, so this is progress rather than a clear win. But if you keep phones for four or five years, an Infinix at Rs 24,999 is now a defensible choice in a way it was not two generations ago.

The caveat is the one that always applies to update pledges: it is a commitment, not a delivery record. A five-year pledge made in 2026 will not be tested until 2031, and Infinix has a shorter track record on long-term Android support than the bigger brands it is competing with here. Treat the promise as the floor to hold Infinix to, not as something already earned.

Infinix Hot 70 Pro price and availability

There are two configurations, both with 128GB of storage.

  • 6GB + 128GB — Rs 24,999
  • 8GB + 128GB — Rs 27,999

You will see Rs 22,999 quoted as the starting price in a lot of coverage. That is the launch-offer figure, and it depends on stacking a bank-card discount on top of the sticker price, so it is not what most buyers will actually pay. Rs 24,999 is the price. No-cost EMI is offered across three, six and nine months.

Sales begin on 7 September at 12 noon IST through Flipkart and retail partners, per The Hans India and Sunday Guardian, though GSMArena’s launch report lists a later date. Four finishes are on offer: Mirage Green, Dive Blue, Silk Glow Purple and Thermo Orange. Thermo Orange changes colour with temperature and Mirage Green shifts under UV light.

Infinix Hot 70 Pro specifications

The headline feature is the Active Matrix Cube, a small interactive light-up panel set into the rear camera island that can show call and message notifications, charging state, low-battery warnings, weather and countdowns, and can sync lighting effects with music and games. Infinix also bundles a Matrix Studio app for making custom patterns, plus a couple of mini-games. It is the sort of thing that either delights you or gets switched off in week two.

  • Display — 6.76-inch FHD+ LCD, 2,344 x 1,080, 144Hz, 240Hz touch sampling, up to 910 nits in high-brightness mode
  • Processor — MediaTek Dimensity 7100, 6nm
  • Memory and storage — 6GB or 8GB RAM, 128GB UFS 2.2, microSD supported
  • Rear cameras — 50MP Sony IMX882 main with 2x lossless zoom, plus an auxiliary sensor
  • Front camera — 8MP
  • Battery — 6,000mAh, 45W wired, 10W reverse wired, bypass charging
  • Durability — IP68 dust and water resistance
  • Other — NFC, side-mounted fingerprint reader, dedicated One-Tap AI button configurable for Gemini or over 50 apps
  • Software — XOS 16 on Android 16, three OS upgrades, five years of security patches

Two things to weigh against the update promise. The panel is an LCD, not an AMOLED, at a price where AMOLED is now standard, and the storage is UFS 2.2, an older and slower standard than what newer phones in this bracket have moved to. Neither is a dealbreaker at Rs 24,999, but app installs and large file transfers will feel it, and both look like where the budget went to pay for the design flourishes on the back. Worth putting this one next to the Redmi 17 5G and the rest of the bracket before you commit.
