Honor Robot Phone Repair Prices: CNY 3,079 for the Gimbal Main Camera

Honor has published the full out-of-warranty repair price list for the Robot Phone on its Chinese website, and it is a more complete document than the headline number suggests. Ten parts are priced, from a CNY 149 front camera up to a CNY 6,599 motherboard — and the arithmetic on the expensive end is unforgiving enough to change how you would think about owning this phone.

Honor Robot Phone repair prices in full

These are Honor’s official spare-part prices as listed on its Chinese site and compiled by IT之家. Approximate dollar conversions are included for scale only — this is China-market pricing on a phone that is not sold in the US, Europe or India.

  • Rear camera A (main) — CNY 3,079 (about $457)
  • Rear camera C (telephoto) — CNY 879 (about $130)
  • Rear camera B (ultrawide) — CNY 199 (about $29)
  • Front camera — CNY 149
  • Screen assembly — CNY 1,379, or CNY 979 at a discounted rate
  • Battery — CNY 319 (about $47)
  • Back cover — CNY 379
  • Motherboard, 12GB/512GB — CNY 4,599 (about $684)
  • Motherboard, 16GB/1TB — CNY 6,599 (about $981)

Worth noting is the discounted CNY 979 screen price sitting alongside the CNY 1,379 standard one — a roughly 29 percent difference on the single part most likely to break, and a distinction that vanishes from most reporting of this list. The back cover and front camera figures are similarly absent from the English-language coverage.

The CNY 3,079 camera is the gimbal, and the label matters

Honor’s list calls the CNY 3,079 part “rear camera A (main)” rather than naming the gimbal — but they are the same component. The Robot Phone’s headline feature is a motorised gimbal that carries the 200MP 1/1.28-inch f/1.6 23mm main sensor, built around what Honor says is the industry’s first titanium-alloy gimbal architecture, 65 percent smaller in volume than mainstream gimbals. That is why the main camera costs 15 times what the ultrawide costs: you are not replacing a sensor, you are replacing a sensor bolted to a motor assembly with moving parts.

Which is the practical point for anyone tempted by this phone. Every camera module on a normal phone sits still behind glass. This one moves, extends and is the single most mechanically vulnerable thing on the device — and it is also the most expensive camera part to replace. Novel hardware carries novel failure modes, and Honor’s own price list is the most honest documentation of that trade-off anyone has published so far.

What the repair costs are worth as a percentage

The Robot Phone launched on 12 August and went on sale on 18 August at CNY 9,999 for 12GB/512GB and CNY 12,999 for 16GB/1TB. Set the repair prices against those:

  • A main-camera replacement on the base model costs about 31 percent of the phone’s price
  • A motherboard replacement on the base model costs about 46 percent
  • On the 16GB/1TB model, a motherboard is about 51 percent — more than half the phone
  • A screen at the standard CNY 1,379 rate is about 14 percent

Those ratios are typical of the direction premium phones have been moving, and they are the argument for treating repair pricing as a spec you check before buying rather than a number you discover after an accident. We made the same point about Samsung’s foldable screen repair pricing: when the most breakable part costs a double-digit percentage of the device, the real cost of ownership is not on the price tag.

Honor has not published equivalent pricing outside China, and there is no announced international release for the Robot Phone, so these figures set expectations rather than obligations for any future market.
