Gionee India has announced that it will be releasing the Android KitKat 4.4.2 update for the Gionee Pioneer P4.

Gionee Pioneer P4 Android KitKat 4.4.2 UpdateThe phone was released in April this year, with Android JellyBean 4.2.2.

It will skip Android 4.3 and will get 4.4.2 directly. Whether the P4 will get the KitKat update OTA (Over-the-air), or not is unclear. Gionee had announced that the Android 4.4.2 update for Elife E7 Mini in July, but it was only available at their official service centers.

We have reached out to Gionee to clarify this, and will update this post with more information.

We are impressed with the company’s practices of updating their phones, even the mid range ones as the P4.  Are you using the Gionee P4? What are your reactions after reading the news that your phone will be updated to Android KitKat?

Drop a comment and let us know what you think.
