Samsung has officially opened pre-orders in India for its new foldable lineup, with confirmed prices for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The base Ultra starts at ₹1,99,999, the standard Fold8 at ₹1,79,999, and the Flip8 at ₹1,24,999. All three are available to pre-order from today via Samsung’s India channels.
“These devices with their cutting-edge hardware engineering and durable design are made in India and supported by our R&D capabilities in the country,” said JB Park, President and CEO, Samsung Southwest Asia, in Samsung India’s announcement. That Made-in-India claim is one of the clearer local differentiators Samsung is pushing with this generation.

Samsung India has not listed a separate general-availability date in this release — only that pre-orders are open from today. Globally, Samsung said general availability starts August 7, 2026; treat that as a reference until India confirms its own sale window.
What these prices mean in India
Against last year’s India MRPs, this is not a flat “everything went up ₹20,000” story — the split Fold lineup changes the comparison:
- Galaxy Z Fold7 (2025) started at ₹1,74,999 for 12GB/256GB. The new standard Fold8 base is ₹1,79,999 — only about ₹5,000 more for a redesigned, lighter Fold. That is the mildest hike in the stack.
- Fold8 Ultra starts at ₹1,99,999 — ₹25,000 above last year’s Fold7. Samsung is effectively charging a new Ultra tax for the 200MP camera, thinner 4.1mm body, and 5,000mAh battery. If you previously bought “the” Fold every year, the Ultra is the real successor, and it is priced accordingly.
- Flip8 is the sharpest year-on-year jump: base MRP moves from Flip7’s ₹1,09,999 to ₹1,24,999 (+₹15,000), and the 512GB model jumps from ₹1,21,999 to ₹1,44,999 (+₹23,000). That is a lot more money for a device that, globally, still carries an unchanged 4,300mAh-class battery story and a glasstic back — India buyers paying the higher Flip sticker should be clear they are buying a thinner/lighter Flip and AI cover-screen work, not a step-change in battery or charging.
In US dollars, the same base configs start at $1,899 (Fold8), $2,099 (Fold8 Ultra), and $1,199.99 (Flip8). Converted roughly at current mid-market rates, India’s rupee MRPs still sit above a simple USD→INR conversion — a familiar Samsung India premium, not a bargain relative to US list. The ₹9,000–10,000 upgrade/UPI offers on the Folds (₹4,000–5,000 on the Flip) only close a fraction of that gap, and only if you qualify. Memory-chip costs are the industry backdrop Samsung has already used to justify higher prices elsewhere this year — androidpure covered the mobile division’s first quarterly operating loss on memory prices — but that does not make a ₹2 lakh foldable “value” in India; it explains why the hikes landed, not why you should shrug at them.
Bottom line for an Indian buyer: the standard Fold8 at ₹1,79,999 is the least painful step up from Fold7 if you want the new form factor without the Ultra camera tax. The Ultra at ₹2 lakh base is a flagship-plus purchase, not a normal generational refresh. The Flip8 hike is the hardest to defend on paper unless the thinner body and FlexWindow matter more to you than battery or materials. Plan against MRP; treat every bank/upgrade/EMI line as optional, not the real price.
Pre-order offers (conditional, not the real price)
Samsung is marketing upgrade, UPI/BCB, and EMI deals alongside the launch. These are either/or style offers, not a stack you should assume applies to every buyer:
- Fold8 Ultra and Fold8: up to ₹10,000 upgrade offer or up to ₹9,000 BCB/UPI offer; No Cost EMI options up to 30 months (select NBFCs) or 9 months (bank EMI), zero down payment where available
- Flip8: up to ₹5,000 upgrade offer or up to ₹4,000 BCB/UPI offer; same EMI structure
30-month zero-interest EMI is limited to select partners (Samsung Finance+, TVS Credit, IDFC First Bank, and PFL per Samsung); other NBFC partners top out at 24 months. T&Cs apply, and the headline “effective” price only lands if you qualify for the upgrade or bank offer — plan against the MRP, not the marketing floor.
Samsung is also pushing Galaxy Forever on the Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra: Care+ accidental/liquid protection plus an assured buyback of up to 55%, at ₹1,084 per month for 24 months on No Cost EMI. That is a paid protection/upgrade programme, not a free launch perk.

All three ship with Galaxy AI / Gemini Intelligence and One UI 9. Samsung’s India release also stresses Knox security, an AI Assistant Activity dashboard, and enhanced Privacy Alerts — useful if you care about seeing what AI is doing on-device, less useful if you expected on-device-only AI by default; cloud processing remains part of the Knox/Galaxy AI model Samsung describes.
