Almost 5 months after the release of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) ICS, Samsung has started to roll out ICS upgrade for its Samsung Galaxy S II series of smartphones. This upgrade is available today for European countries including Poland, Hungary, Sweden along with Korea. Upgrade roll out to other countries will start rolling out gradually too.

Galaxy S II ICS

Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) upgrade for some other devices i.e. GALAXY Note, GALAXY SII LTE, GALAXY Tab 8.9 and 10.1 too will be coming out soon. Even though Samsung is not giving any ETA about when it will be released, we can only wait and watch as Samsung kept announcing and denying  ICS upgrade before this roll out.

You can upgrade your Samsung Galaxy S2 to Android Ice Cream Sandwich ICS via latest version of KIES software tool.

Instructions For Flashing ICS Manually

If you are not one of those lucky users who have received the official upgrade for your GALAXY S II and you cannot wait more, then you can manually upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Using the CF-Root for the Galaxy S II by XDA forum Moderator Chainfire, Faryaab has posted instructions on how to get your newly updated device rooted and how to manually installing the update.

Samsung is not going to provide ICS upgrade for  Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab 7”, Galaxy S Plus, Galaxy S SCL(Super Clear LCD), and Galaxy W. Users of these devices will be offered only Android 2.3 Gingerbread firmware upgrades which will include  Face Unlock, Snapshot, Photo Editor and few other additions too.
