Mediocre Games, the Swedish Game Studio behind popular titles Granny Smith and Sprinkle series, will be releasing their upcoming physics based game, Smash Hit next month.
Smash hit will be a free to play game, but there is no reason to frown at it.
One of our readers, Rohit Bhatia, reached out to the developers on Twitter, questioning the game’s free to play model, and Mediocre were kind enough to share the details.
“The IAP unlocks the ability to start from checkpoints. But its possible to play the entire game without them,” Mediocre said. “Its an attempt to still do a premium game, but one that is accessible for everyone. No ads, no crazy monetization.”
This sounds like a delightful IAP system, even better than the ones we have seen in Hexage’s Reaper, since you can play through the entire game without spending a dime.
Smash Hit uses a brand new physics engine, and allows players on a journey through a surreal space-time dimension, where you throw metal marbles to smash glass objects. The graphics in the video below show stunning footage of glass destruction and some cool music too.

The press release mentions iCloud Support for device sync, and iOS Game Center support for leaderboards and achievements. So the game could include Google Play Services as well.

Smash Hit will be available on Android and iOS for free on March 6, 2014.
