Apple says nearly 100 components in the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18 Pro are now produced by American companies. On October 20 it named two new or expanded US partners. Perryman Company will supply titanium for Apple products, including the iPhone Duo. Qnity Electronics will make films for the iPhone 18 Pro’s variable-aperture camera.

iPhone Duo titanium from Pennsylvania
Perryman melts, forges and rolls titanium at its site in Houston, Pennsylvania. Apple says the titanium Perryman makes for the iPhone Duo has at least 80 percent recycled content. Apple will commit up to $100 million to Perryman over the next three years. Apple’s release doesn’t say Perryman is the Duo’s only titanium source.
iPhone 18 Pro camera films and Face ID lasers
Qnity, based in Delaware, joined Apple’s program in March. It will produce films that Apple calls essential to the iPhone 18 Pro’s variable-aperture camera. Coherent’s plant in Sherman, Texas supplies the VCSEL lasers behind Face ID. Apple says those lasers also support the redesigned Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
Apple chief operating officer Sabih Khan tied the announcement to both phones:
“American ingenuity is vital to all our products, from the titanium crafted for iPhone Duo to breakthrough camera innovations in iPhone 18 Pro.”
The wider US manufacturing push
Both deals fall under Apple’s American Manufacturing Program. That program is part of Apple’s $600 billion, four-year commitment to US manufacturing. Apple says the nearly 100 components come from suppliers in more than a dozen states. It didn’t say how many components the phones contain in total.
Apple also listed a few related updates:
- Amkor: Apple will be one of the first customers at its packaging plant in Peoria, Arizona.
- Houston, Texas: Apple’s facility there will begin manufacturing Mac mini this year.
- Scale: Apple says its suppliers operate in all 50 states and support more than 450,000 American jobs.
None of this changes the price, specs or availability of either phone. For buying details, see our coverage of the iPhone Duo’s two-per-customer order limit.
