One UI 9 for the Galaxy S26 was supposed to reach buyers outside Korea on September 21. That date has now passed without a stable release. Samsung Thailand’s newsroom page, which had specifically listed September 21 for the Galaxy S26 series, now shows September 28 instead. Samsung had already pencilled in that same day for the Galaxy S25 series. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are on it too.
What actually happened with the One UI 9 rollout
Korea got there first. Samsung began pushing the stable One UI 9 build, based on Android 17, to Galaxy S26 units in its home market on September 16. Korean owners are unaffected by any of this.
Everyone else was waiting on September 21. Instead of the S26 update, Samsung used that day to ship September security patches and to open a One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy A15 5G. That beta is a separate, budget-tier programme. It should not be confused with the flagship’s stable release.
The revised September 28 listing comes from Samsung Thailand’s own page, as reported by SamMobile. It is worth being precise about what that does and does not prove. Samsung has not announced a delay, and the changed date may only apply to Thailand. SamMobile itself flags that limitation: “The company hasn’t confirmed a delay, though, and the revised date could apply only to Thailand.”
Why the gap is drawing attention
SamMobile describes the gap between the Korean release and the wider rollout as uncharacteristically long for a major One UI update. The outlet reads that as a sign Samsung may have found problems with the initial build. That is its inference, not a confirmed cause, and no technical explanation has been offered publicly.
Our own observation is narrower and harder to argue with. Samsung put a specific calendar date in front of customers and did not hit it. A quiet edit to a regional newsroom page is not a status update. Owners who planned around September 21 found out only because a change to a Thai webpage got noticed.
What to expect next
If September 28 holds, the Galaxy S26 would land on the same day as the S25 series and last year’s foldables. That would be a large single-day wave, and Samsung rollouts of that scale usually reach different regions on different days.
The Galaxy S23 FE sits on the Thailand schedule for some point in October. That entry predates the current revision, so it may change as well.
For now, the practical advice is unglamorous. Keep checking Settings, then Software update, then Download and install. Do not read anything into an empty result before the end of next week.
