vivo V80 and S2 FE Clear India Certification, Launch Looks Imminent

Two unannounced vivo phones have turned up on India’s Bureau of Indian Standards certification database, a strong signal that the vivo V80 and vivo S2 FE are close to an official India launch. Everything about the phones themselves beyond their model numbers is still rumor, so treat the specs below as unconfirmed until vivo says otherwise.

What’s actually confirmed: two model numbers

BIS approved model numbers V2640 and V2648. Gizmochina, which spotted the listings, ties V2640 to the vivo S2 FE, based on an earlier Bluetooth SIG filing that used the same number. V2648 is tied to the vivo V80, based on separate certifications the phone already picked up in Thailand’s NBTC, Malaysia’s SIRIM, and Indonesia’s SDPPI databases. BIS certification is a mandatory step before a phone can legally be sold in India, so it doesn’t guarantee an imminent launch date, but it does rule out a long wait.

Gizmochina expects an October release based on the pace of these filings, though vivo hasn’t confirmed a date.

What’s still rumored

The V80 is rumored to run OriginOS 7 on Android 17, potentially making it India’s first phone on that build. Leaked specs point to a 7,200 mAh battery, a 50 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and heavy AI photography features, positioning it as a creator-focused device. None of this is confirmed by vivo.

The S2 FE is speculated to be a rebadge of the vivo V80 Lite 5G that already launched in Malaysia with a 10,000 mAh battery, a 6.84-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED display, a MediaTek Dimensity 7300e chipset, and 44W charging. If that holds, the S2 FE would slot in as a battery-focused budget option alongside the more premium V80.
